Went with my family. Had soup, salad and pupu sampler. Satisfied each family member (which is not easy to do)! Definitely will return.

I'm not sure if the negative reviewers are employees of competitors but if you have an open mind and open heart to go with your empty stomach, Corner Kitchen is a great place for a nice dinner. True, if you don't like loud music, arrive earlier like we did and find a fabulous place later for a nice dessert - you're practically in Waikiki and you don't need to pay Waikiki prices to have fine food. Use the extra savings for a treat at Leonard's Bakery up the street or a dessert menu after a nice stroll down Kalakaua Avenue.
We have used a Groupon twice at this location and haven't been disappointed with the food. There is a chance they still don't know how to deal with the many customers that dine here because there were empty tables that didn't seem to get filled even after we left, but guess that they aren't too concerned about turning away walk-in customers as it seems they are satisfied with the amount of clients that turn up each night.
Discerning reviewers think they have champagne taste on a beer budget - save them for the restaurants that empty your pockets fast, as Corner Kitchen has freshly prepared food at reasonable prices. The sushi is great and the large and/or complete plates are enough for sharing with others. We'll return again, preferably before it gets too loud...

Given the importance of great music and great food in island culture, I was taken aback by some of the reviews, whining about the nightly entertainment. Clearly if yapping is your priority, you'd be happier some place else. But if you, like most island folk, love good food and good, live music, this is the place. There just aren't many places left that can serve up both any more, and on a nightly basis. The atmosphere is hip and tight without being anal, and the emphasis is on casual, cordial, friendly service. Our server was awesome, real island friendliness with a touch of sass, and within moments we were just like old friends. The ahi poke was maybe the best ever, the tempura fish was light, flaky, perfectly cooked without being too heavy on the batter and oil. The boneless kal bi ribs were insane. Just wish we could have sampled more, but the platters were so big! Oh, did I mention local microbrews on tap and by the pitcher for hap

Went in on a Thursday night to have some dinner and see local musicians Waipuna play. Miso was rich and delicious, better than I remember having anywhere else. Ahi Tataki (seared ahi with maui onions) was also excellent. Tried a small plate of BBQ ribs, very tasty. Service was attentive, though I was seated at the bar. Table service appeared to be expeditious as well, even though the place was close to capacity. I think the best attribute here is the atmosphere, fostered by the music. Waipuna invited audience members to hula, so we were treated to some wonderful "spur of the moment" dancing with the music. If you love Hawaiian music, fresh fish, and a great vibe, definitely check this place out!

The Corner Kitchen is a testament to talent in the kitchen, a hardworking staff and local Hawaiian entertainers weaving it all together. The venue is intimate but it works. The parking in the surrounding neighborhood is challenging but people pack the house because its worth it. Where else to you get see Hawaiian music legends stepping up to sing and jam with the band. Tutus (grandmas) doing the hula with young people from Japan. I have had everything from their pasta carbonara, sushi, ribs, etc. It is truly a place to enjoy local Hawaiian culture!
