First the good-well located,clean,well trained & courteous staff,large room.
The not so good-my ocean view room was on the side of the building, with a small sliver of water visible from the room. Not exactly what i expected from "ocean view" description ,nor pricing($50/nite extra).
Apparently the "deluxe ocean view"(available at yet another at a premium of course) wasnt available at any time during my 8 nite visit until the final evening.
Secondly,wi fi sometimes worked, sometimes didnt-instructions were only available in Japanese language.
Lastly, breakfast lines ranged from 7 minutes to 24 minutes-if its wet & outdoor section closed, dont bother. If you dont have the capacity to service, sell less breakfast packages
Not quite what I expected from a Hyatt Regency in an English speaking town tbh

Room Tip: Diamond Head tower deluxe water view only way to go

Aloha,

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay. We value all of your comments and have shared specifically with our Food and Beverage Director and IT Director. A majority of our marketing is in English so we will investigate further why you received instructions in Japanese. We do apologize for any inconveniences you experienced while staying with us.

I’m sitting in the Hyatt Regency Waikiki and not enjoying it. It is not a bad experience but the hotel does not add to the enjoyment of my vacation.

The room is a deluxe ocean view in the EWA tower. It has a very nice view of the beach and the ocean but the view is obstructed by the cables of construction scaffolding. The room is large but uninviting – a drab brown with little to brighten it, a king bed with no skirt or colorful bedding (all white), single sink, tight shower-toilet area. Because of the construction there is no access to the balcony. Wi-Fi is sometimes very slow. Change rooms? No because what was offered did not improve the situation.

There are some good things about the hotel. The beach is right across the street and you are close to a lot of restaurants and shopping. There is a nice shopping mall integrated into the same building – boutique shops, specialty eating places. Both the Shor and Swim restaurants are fine – good service and food.

Without exception the hotel staff has been excellent. They are friendly and try to please.

If you are a Gold Passport member, you get some nice perks – significant discounts on the resort fee, some dining options, and other things.

Would I stay here again? Maybe. If the room was in the Diamond Head tower with some color and access to the balcony. If you are coming here, be sure to make specific room requirements when you make your reservation.

Room Tip: Choose the Diamond Head tower if construction is still going on in EWA.

Being in the older range of travellers we found this hotel wonderful, our room was great, we had beautiful views, from the rugged Diamond Head to our left and the ocean as far as we could see. We had a small problem at book in but it was handled by a delightful young man named James and sorted to our satisfaction. Although all staff we had contact with were pleasant, it was really only breakfast and wating staff tha we came in contact with, we never saw many other hotel people around. The location would have to be the best in Waikiki. When we booked this package through MY HAWAII,we were a little nervous, as we had never done anything like this before, we needn't have worried, everything in the package was top class, from Hwaaiian Airlines to all the tours included ,it was 1st class all the way. I dont know how they could squeeze in all this value for such a reasonable price.Thank you Hyatt and thank you My Hawaii.

This hotel has been on my bucketlist ever since i started in the travel industry almost 9 years ago. Glad i got to finally experience the hotel's location, facilities and room.
My room was a deluxe ocean view and it was fantastic. If you can afford to spend that little bit more to get an ocean view, it is so definately worth it. I have stayed at many hotels on waikiki beach and gotten an ocean view and the view never gets old.
The room was massive and the bathroom quite spacious.
The only thing i think the room lacked was that the balcony/lanai (it's what the hawaiian people call them) was quite on the small side, but it still had a small table and chairs.
For the size of the hotel, the pool is not very big.
The staff at the front desk were exceptionally friendly... my room wasnt ready when i checked in as i was a couple hours early, but they were very kind to let me keep my bags with them and use the pool facilities.
The location is i think the best that i have ever stayed at. It's not on the beach like other hotels - just across the road with no hotels obscuring the views, but just a walk across a set of traffic lights. I have read people's reviews giving them a lower rating cause it's not on the beach and all i can say is that they are lazy and spoilt. This hotel is close to so many food places, 2 ABC stores (convenient stores) on either end of the hotel on street level and across from the beach -what more could you ask for.
Overall a great hotel except for the pool size and the balcony size, otherwise i was glad to finally tick this hotel off my list and looking forward to coming back to stay.

Room Tip: Pay a little more for a deluxe ocean view

The hotel and staff where fantastic. Full ocean view room as booked. Whatever i askd for i was given information immediatlly. I forgot to tske a power adaptor they gave me one. Staff respected my request not to service room some days. Some other hotels i have stayed before just went in and done what they wanted.. Hotel was fantastic. All staff from the front desk to the service ladys to the pool attendents and the breafast staff greeted you with a smile and always asked if there was anything else they could do.The position of the hotel is central to everytng. In front of the hotel you have all the tourist buses. The city trollys and the bus that goes derectlly to the shopping dicount outlets. The room was big with two beds a lcd tv,free wifi and unlimited free local calls. But the best was the one hour of international calls for free. Which i thought was fantastic. I recommend anyone to stay at this hotel you will not be dissapointed.

Room Tip: Ask for full ocean view but i think 15th floor and above. My room wss on the 16th floor and it was f...

Our first stay in beautiful Honolulu on a MyHawaii package which included this hotel where all staff from reception to room service were very friendly, efficient and really meant it when they said can I help you?. The room was big, light and airy, very comfy and serviced daily. The food from breakfast, pool area to room service was inexpensive, large choice and very fresh and delivered quickly. The hotel is very convenient, with beach, shops and restaruants nearby. We really enjoyed our stay. The only negative is that we had to go home!!!!!

We had stayed at this hotel some years ago on several occasions and liked it for its elegance and location. Now it is a very busy hotel for tour groups from Asia. The rooms are noisy and inadequately furnished; the bathrooms outdated. While the staff is very pleasant, they are also very busy. The lobby offers no comfort, there is really no where there to sit or to wait. During the day there is only the poolside bar/very casual outdoor cafe to have food or drink. At night there is no bar. The price is high for what you get. However, if you want to be across from the beach this is the place for you.

Room Tip: try to get a high floor with unobstructed ocean view.

Aloha,

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We appreciate your continued business although we regret this latest visit was not up to your expectations. We have noted all of your comments and will share them with our staff. There is a bar on property that is open every day from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. It is called SWIM - it is on the third floor next to the pool. You may have referenced it earlier but we wanted to clarify that it is open daily and at night.
