“Great value for money and location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 18, 2013

This is a great place to stay if you dont want to pay out for a really expensive hotel on the beach. The staff are exceedingly friendly and helpful, it is a minutes walk from the beach and it is close to the main area with restaurants and shops. We organised to visit Pearl Harbor ourselves and reception booked us a shuttle that picked us up from the hotel ($16 return - organised tours are much more expensive!). The hotel also booked us a shuttle to take us to the airport which was $12. There is a $10 resort fee which we knew abut before travelling - however we had stayed in other hotels across America and had been charged up to $28 a night resort fee so it is good value compared to other places (and the wifi does work well in the hotel. You are also given a code when you check in to access wifi on the beach although that was a bit hit and miss). The rooms were definitely adequate in size for two people and cases and we had a balcony. (if you are floor 5 and up you get a balcony) We would definitely stay here again

Room Tip: If you want a balcony ask for a floor from Floor 5 and above

For the money we paid - this is excellent value for money. The hotel is located right in the middle of everything - the beach is only a two minute walk away, there is an ATM across the road and an ABC store next door. The hustle of Waikiki's restaurants and shops are only a stroll away. Beach towels are provided by the very friendly staff each day and there are chairs/lilos/beach balls available too. We spent a day and a half at Pearl Harbour and the staff booked a shuttle bus for us ($16 round trip) and advised us of the best time to get there (as early as possible as there are limited tickets per day to go and see the USS Arizona memorial). The staff also arranged a shuttle back to the airport ($12 per person).

The room is very clean and the AC is efficient. We were on the fifth floor and got a small balcony also. There is plenty of storage space for luggage (we were here for five days) and the rooms are cleaned daily.

There is a $10 'resort fee' which is for the WiFi and breakfast (toast, cereal, coffee, pastries, tea). The hotel staff were upfront about this at check in and is considerably less than the resort fee at the Sheraton ($29 per day!).

This is not the Sheraton or the Royal Hawaiian but we would highly recommend here. There is a relaxed feel about the place.

Room Tip: Floor 5 - room 506 and 510 were good (room 510 has the hand chair).

I am giving this hotel an "barely average" rating, based on my view that this is actually a two-star hotel, like the Ambassador Hotel of Waikiki, Castle Hokele Suites, Maile Sky Court, etc. For some reason, both Travelocity and Expedia put this hotel in the category of three-star hotels, but if I compared it to other three-star hotels, I would have to give it a "poor" rating. This hotel is very basic, but has been painted, redecorated and given new, more modern furniture. It is, however, an older building with a very, very slow elevator and old-fashioned jalousie windows which are not sound-proof. The bed linens looked clean enough, but the floor looked dirty around the edges, there is still mold or mildew in the grout/caulking of the tub, and no counter-space or cabinet-space in the bathroom, no doors on the closet (just cheap-looking curtains), and the dresser top was dented up. This is a fine room if you get it at the right price, as I did: I bought it as a Travelocity "mystery hotel". If you have a car, this might not be a good choice, as the hotel has minimal parking available. It is in a very convenient location, though, for walking or taking the bus. There was a mini-fridge in my room, too. I didn't try the restaurant/bar, but received a $5 off coupon each day to use there. If you don't expect much, and and can get this hotel for a good price, it might be just the place for you.

We stayed 4 days in 2 different rooms during august. If you are looking for a hotel next to the beach and close to nearby services in Honolulu, this is the place.
On the good side, location is the most positive point and some of the staff are very helpful. Breakfast acceptable.
On the not so good side we have to say that rooms are quite tiny an depending on the area quite noisy. We couldnt rest some of the days because that annoying noise...but no problem because the breakfast is served at 7 am so you can set off really early.... :> On top of that, we have to notice that when making a reservation with the parking lot, and having confirmed it 3 times, when we arrived at the hotel they just simply had released it. When problems arisen, part of the staff was not attentive and service was quite dissapointing. In our opinion some of the skills and competences of staff attending customers should be reviewed, attitude is basic when helping others... this will probably be an exception, but good management has to be aware about all these cases...

Room Tip: try upper floors...

I booked the Stay Hotel for our recent trip to Oahu because the location was great and the price was right. Other reviewers are completely correct in noting that the rooms are TINY (and the bathroom is even smaller), but since we spent most of our time out and about it was exactly what we needed: A comfortable bed, air conditioning and a shower :). it was actually quite cozy, really.

The only thing that I really felt Stay Hotel was missing was a mini-fridge in the room. This is the one thing that kept me from rating this property "Very Good" and that might keep me from staying there again. So that's my one piece of feedback -- I hope they take it into consideration!

I must say, in all fairness, that the staff at Stay Hotel are absolutely wonderful and helpful. However, for future guests, please note of the following: You will be charged an extra $10 PER DAY for a so called "amenities fee," which is not mentioned on their website at all--very sneaky, made me feel taken advantage of! They don't mention this to you until you arrive at the hotel, what's up with that?! The charge is for a purported "amenities fee," which is basically for internet access and breakfast--bland toast and coffee that is on display just so the hotel can say they serve "continental breakfast." Also, please note that if you go to Stay Hotel's website, it is listed that they have "complimentary WiFi internet access" which is not the case at all, as they charge you for this without having it mentioned to you until you arrive at the hotel. "Complimentary" eh? ... Overall, staff are nice but it is a misleading hotel; very sneaky indeed. Oh, and also, my room was far from the pictures posted on their website: we were given bunk beds--no joke. A hotel with bunk beds (and I was with a girl I was trying to impress)--she slept above me and I under her; just awful.

Room Tip: Note of the $10 PER DAY charge that is not mentioned on their website! Make sure you don't get t...
