Owner description: The 44-ft. Maita`i Catamaran takes off three times daily to sail the beautiful waters fronting the world’s most famous beach, Waikiki. Aside from incredible views and the exhilaration that comes with being on the ocean, the smooth riding twin-hulled rig serves up adult libations for passengers who are of age.

Discovered these guys on our last day and wish we found them earlier. Went on the snorkel and sail adventure. They took us off Waikiki and we snorkelled at Turtle Canyon and there were turtles everywhere. Just magic. Our ten year old daughter loved it. Had someone from the boat in the water the whole time and as our daughter was the only child on the trip I feel they kept a special eye on her. Corinne asked her several times how she was going. Then we took a sail up and back to Diamond Head a couple of times and we even had lunch and drinks. This was by far the best value trip we had. As tourists you shell out your money pretty quickly in Waikiki but this trip was really well priced compared to everything else we did. I would have done the evening sail and probably another snorkel sail with these guys if only I'd found them earlier. If you want to see turtles and have a leisurely sail, go with these guys. We've done loads of boat trips, on the barrier reef in Aus etc, and these guys measure up well for a casual sail. Highly recommend. Maholo, guys.

We took the "Underwater Adventure Snorkel and Sail" tour which was 2 hours and left at 10:30. They took us out a little ways and then dumped us off the boat. There was VERY little to see and the water was murky. After about 15 minutes in the water everyone was done and then we just sailed around a bit. If you want to just ride in a boat then have at this tour, but otherwise we could have done this ourselves...

My family of six (ages 24-60) did the moonlight sail on Friday night to watch the fireworks show from the Hilton. The catamaran was very nice and a fun way to spend a few hours and a great way to watch the fireworks. We had a good time and the price was reasonable. The boat pulls right up to the beach so you can walk on.

A catamaran trip may sound a little touristy, but that's what we were and of all the ways one can spend time and money on Waikiki at sunset, this has got to be one of the best. The trip was just long enough, the sunset well timed and cooperative, the drinks were not measured, the music system was good and offered something for every taste, and the crew quite congenial. Highly recommended, with the caveat that you should book in advance and check the weather first.

After picking a great deal on the tickets we had pre-booked well in advance our sunset cruise on the Maita'i. The boat was waiting on time up the beach where about 20 revellers hopped on board. The age group was mixed from about 23 to 63 but didn't make any difference to the trip.

Disappointingly the all male crew (all two of them) delivered some pretty corny jokes thrown into the safety talk as we headed several hundred metres off shore. As I get a clip behind the ears, I am asked to mention to all the girls reading this that the all guy crew are NOT a disappointment to the eye!

Now normally I would expect for the very little we paid, and even for those who paid full price, you would expect the Maitai's to be on the limited side? But to our pleasant surprise the first mate wasted no time in handing out the pre-mixed elixirs of joy and they just kept coming. For those who are not into girlie drinks (fine when they are basically free for any decent male) there is no shortage of Longboarders, which was my preferred beer on-shore. Now just be warned there are no toilets on board so make sure you are prepared for that before you get on board.

The weather in January is pretty much a stable 24degC with very light winds, which made for a great light sail where we anchored to watch the sunset. Having said that, we did just make it back before it bucketed down rain! You will get back to shore not long after sunset in plenty of time to go to dinner at one of the many restaurants in easy walking distance.

If your looking for a relaxed very affordable activity, we can highly recommend you part with a handful of dollars and hop aboard the Maita'i catamaran.
