First, the instructors were very friendly and patient with our children. They were outstanding.
Our group of 6 was assigned two instructors and another group of 4 had a single instructor. The group of 4 was surfing as soon as we hit the beach. Our group, however, waited on our second instructor to arrive for 20 minutes!! The other instructor waxed the surboard while we waited, and waited, and waited ... No attempt was made to extend our time. Disappointing.
Secondly, we paid for a surf lesson and a canoe ride. The canoe had been damaged earlier that day and was not available. Big Wave Dave offered to reschedule, but we were leaving Oahu the next day and were unable to reschedule. So, we simply asked for a refund for the canoe portion of the trip. After discussing this with them for at least 15 minutes, they would not budge and not refund our money. Rather, they said they would be glad to give us a 20% discount on apparel. Really ... they wanted us to spend MORE money ... laughable!! Extremely disappointing.
Bottom line is that this experience could have been great. The instructors were excellent - although tardy - and management of this company leaves something to be desired. They were far too short sighted in this case to simply refund us for our canoe trip that never happen. They were looking out for themselves and not the customer. Poor business decision!!!!
