I decided to stay here based on the reviews and the fact it was a great price (under $150). The location was great. The rooms had just been renovated to be condo/hotel.

Rooms were nice size, one bed and one sofa bed, plus a mini kitchen with granite countertops.

Pool was very nice on the rooftop. Staff was very nice.

We (family of 4) stayed here for nine days in June of 06. We had a one bedroom with full kitchen. This was a great hotel for traveling with children. My boys were able to eat breakfast in the room every morning and I was able to store snacks to munch on. I even cooked a dinner one evening! We were lucky to get a television in both the bedroom and the living room. I understand that there are not two televisions in every room so be sure to request this. I read the reviews where folks complained about the fans on the Japanese restaurant. We were on the fourth floor right right above the fans and they never bothered me. The hotel is in a good location to get to the beach and to the stores. Loved it!

We stayed there for 6 days two weeks ago. It's nice and clean. 10-15 minutes' walking to Waikiki beach.

We stayed here for the first 2 nights of our 10 day/3 island vacation. One of our suitcases took a different route and I waited for hours until I was so exhausted I had to sleep. The hotel clerk was very undertsanding and helpful and left a message as soon as it arrived so we could get some rest.

All of the people who worked there seemed very willing to help. That's what impressed me the most. The price was reasonable. It's a walk to Waikiki beach through Fort DeRussy park, which is beautiful. It can be a little confusing to find one's way back without directions.

The room itself had a nice view, but we did have one of the rooms above the infamous fan in the roof of the restaurant next door. We had air conditioning on often so it wasn't a problem. The room was neat and clean even though I did spot a roach or two.

We were happy with this hotel and felt the information in the reviews provided by this website helped us make great decisions in all our lodgings.

We stayed at the Luana for 5 nights in June, arriving to watch all the car headlights streaming down Kalakaua Avenue from our 16th floor balcony - even at night Waikiki is buzzing with life and interesting to watch. Our room had two, large comfortable beds, air conditioning, fridge with large kitchen worktop and kitchen knives, plates, corkscrew and other useful utensils, large TV and handy table and chairs. The bathroom had a half bath with over bath shower.
The complimentary soap, shampoo, conditioner and lotion were excellent quality - in fact before leaving we bought some soap and pikake passion lotion from the hotel shop. Each time I smell the lotion it reminds me of our wonderful holiday.
The fridge came in very handy for storing juice, wine, sandwiches and the delicious fresh fruit, papaya, pineapple and mangoes which we enjoyed eating on our balcony.
We had a partial ocean view and could see the ocean clearly off to our right, with Diamond Head and Kalakaua Avenue straight ahead and Fort de Russy Park - a bit of everything and a first class view if there is a parade on.
There are plenty of good places for breakfast in the mornings. We particularly liked Keo's across the road - eggs, bacon and pancakes with freshly squeezed guava or pineapple juice to drink. If you are feeling hungry TGI will give you a large value for money breakfast. There are plenty of stores nearby for buying fresh food and drink.
Shopping in the evenings was fun and the shops are amazing. It felt very safe walking around at night as well.
The hotel pool was smaller than expected but with plenty of sun loungers. There was a fitness room nearby which looked fine but we didn't try it out.
There is access to the internet on the mezzanine floor above the lobby. It did seem to swallow dollar bills quickly.
The staff were laid back and low key but at the same time approachable and helpful. We really loved staying at the Luana.
