We stayed at the Luana for 5 nights in June, arriving to watch all the car headlights streaming down Kalakaua Avenue from our 16th floor balcony - even at night Waikiki is buzzing with life and interesting to watch. Our room had two, large comfortable beds, air conditioning, fridge with large kitchen worktop and kitchen knives, plates, corkscrew and other useful utensils, large TV and handy table and chairs. The bathroom had a half bath with over bath shower.
The complimentary soap, shampoo, conditioner and lotion were excellent quality - in fact before leaving we bought some soap and pikake passion lotion from the hotel shop. Each time I smell the lotion it reminds me of our wonderful holiday.
The fridge came in very handy for storing juice, wine, sandwiches and the delicious fresh fruit, papaya, pineapple and mangoes which we enjoyed eating on our balcony.
We had a partial ocean view and could see the ocean clearly off to our right, with Diamond Head and Kalakaua Avenue straight ahead and Fort de Russy Park - a bit of everything and a first class view if there is a parade on.
There are plenty of good places for breakfast in the mornings. We particularly liked Keo's across the road - eggs, bacon and pancakes with freshly squeezed guava or pineapple juice to drink. If you are feeling hungry TGI will give you a large value for money breakfast. There are plenty of stores nearby for buying fresh food and drink.
Shopping in the evenings was fun and the shops are amazing. It felt very safe walking around at night as well.
The hotel pool was smaller than expected but with plenty of sun loungers. There was a fitness room nearby which looked fine but we didn't try it out.
There is access to the internet on the mezzanine floor above the lobby. It did seem to swallow dollar bills quickly.
The staff were laid back and low key but at the same time approachable and helpful. We really loved staying at the Luana.
