Recently stayed for 9 nights as a family of x6 including x4 adult children - we got adjacent rooms, x1 with x2 bedrooms and the other with twin double beds on the 6th floor - outlook over adjacent park, distant ocean views and down to pool was very pleasant - aircon was a bit noisy for a good night's sleep but welcome relief from the heat - apartments getting a little old but are clean and functional - location is off the million dollar beach strip with all the hotel-only room configurations but still only a brief walk to the beach and everything in town - tours, taxi's, busses and connections are all easily accessible - staff were always very helpful - overall a very good value package for a big family - and yes, we would definitely stay there again! - Marc C, Sorrento Vic Aust

Room Tip: Corner suite overlooking park with ocean view is quiet and very pleasant

We stayed three nights on the third floor overlooking the main road. There is no sound proofing and the traffic noise is horrendous so sleeping is very difficult. I can imagine however that the situation would have been much different on the tenth floor or better still the ocean side of the hotel.
The hotel is well positioned for restaurants; shops and the very crowded beach plus probably the largest green/picnic area in Waikiki. Our room was OK but getting a little tired.

Room Tip: Speak to the management or email before booking to see which rooms are available.

We stayed one night while passing back thru Honolulu on our way home from Maui. After having delay after delay at the airport and getting in 5 hours later than we had expected, Ryan at the front desk was very welcoming and friendly! Our room was upgraded from a standard to one with a full kitchen/living room, and separate bedroom area. The set up would be IDEAL for anyone staying longer than just a night or two. It also had a wonderful view of the park and ocean. The only downside I can think of is the lack of dining options immediately close by. The Hard Rock wasn't far, which we walked to for dinner. But the next morning we had a little difficulty finding something. The coffee shop/café connected to the hotel was completely swamped being smack dab in the middle of breakfast time, so we set out walking. Finally stumbled upon the Royal Hawaiian Center mall with a food court. Besides that tiny thing, our stay was PERFECT! Thank you!

I just stayed at the Outrigger Luana Waikiki and it is no ka oi!!! It is the best. Situated on Kalakaua and the Fort Derussy Park it is great for getting a quiet rest away from the middle of Waikiki with all the traffic and people. The hotel is circled by the park instead of highrises. Each morning I took a wonderful walk through the park to the beach and along the shore there is a nice wide sidewalk heading towards the harbor...great safe park, no vagrants. The hotel itself is a smaller boutique hotel with a lovely lobby and the greatest staff. The front desk goes beyond to make sure you have everything you need, the rooms are nicely appointed with a great kitchen area (granite counter tops, stainless steel sink, etc.) and the beds are SO comfortable and all with the hawaiian theme. I was on the 14th floor with an ocean view and a peek of Diamond Head. Be sure and ask for the 'park side' of the hotel and try and get high up if you are looking for quiet. The A/C worked great and it was wonderful to come back to the nice cool room after doing different day tours in Honolulu. I will definitely go back and stay at the Luana...it is the best!!!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the park-side of the hotel

we stayed here for 10 nights and the room and service here were great. The cleaning and service in general was of a high standard. This hotel is situated just outside of the really busy area of Waikiki and quiet. We were on the 12th floor facing the mountains and had no issues with traffic noise. The room was very spacious with queen bed and good sized wardrobe. The trolley service that took you all over Waikiki is only one street away from the hotel. The fruited water in the lobby is a great idea and very appreciated on the warmer days.great place to stay and we will be back.

Room Tip: rooms facing mountains and on higher floors are nicer for the views and less noise.

We just checked out of the Outrigger this morning. We were there for three nights. Our stay was lovely. Hotel is clean and the staff is friendly. Both concierges, Matt and Stacey, were very helpful. We liked that this hotel was a little away from where all the action is. It is an easy walk to the restaurants and the beach.

We were glad we did not rent a car here. Traffic is unbelievable...all the time.....use shuttles, trollies....or walk.

We went on two Discover Hawaii tours.....booked them at the hotel. I highly recommend this tour company. We took the pearl harbor tour and the circle island tour. Both were informative and fun.

one night we ate at the Shore Bird restaurant in the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach....noisy....and you cook your own food on very hot grills.....I grill 2 or 3 times a week so this wasnt very exciting for me....but then the second night we went to The Top of Wakiki which is wonderful....service fabulous and food great....it is located on the 20th floor and it slowly spins.....very slowly and you dont even realize it.....would highly recommend this place.....happy hour from 5 to 7 so go a bit before your reservation and have a drink at the bar.....

Groceries are very expensive in Wakiki....walk to the Food Pantry not the ABC stores....it is still expensive but better than ABC.....if you can fit some non perishables in your suitcase you should. Raisin bran was $8 a box and english muffins were $6....if you have room it is easy to slip food bzgs between your clothes....save your money for better things! Aloha!
