Right next to Ft. DeBussy. Mil I'D cardholders can get a monthly parking pass from Hale Kia garage for $100, less than 4 nights cost at hotel. A nice view if you are above 12th floor. Small refrigerator but some rooms don't have microwave (only allowed so many in blog). Bed was a little lumpy and uneven. Fitness center and pool are nice but why couldn't I open my eyes in the water? Restaurant on site, breakfast & lunch only. Laundry room. Would stay again.

For value for money...I don't think you could beat this hotel. While it is a short walk to the main shopping area of Waikiki...the outlook over the park to the ocean was much nicer than looking into another hotel. Took less than 15 min to walk to Ala Moana Shopping Centre. The staff were very helpful and rooms (we had three) were all clean and comfy.

My husband and I stayed here on the first part of our Hawaii trip. His brother lives in Oahu and the hotel allowed him to park in the garage when picking us up and dropping us off. The room had a nice kitchenette which was very helpful to me as I have food intolerances and cooked many of my meals. The hotel was located near the beach, there was a short walk through a park to get there which we did not mind. They had a very nice pool area with luxury loungers and tents. It was a little small but since the pool was not crowded, it was fine. The beach was very nice and we spent a lot of time on it. There were little bars and stores along the way incase you needed anything. Stafff was helpful and kind. We would stay here again.

15th.floor partial ocean view kitchenette room at a reasonable rate was everything we could have wanted. Lovely view from the lanai over the park to the ocean, and certainly a lot quieter than further along the Waikiki strip. Only a few minutes walk along Kalakaua gets you to the activity of Waikiki.
The front desk staff were obliging, helpful and friendly, as were the valet guys. The parking fee was probably a bit steep, but I don't think there is cheaper parking available at any of the major Waikiki hotels, and the valet efficiency and good humour went a long way to justifying it.
Lots of traffic noise is hardly a surprise given the location, but a room on a higher floor and overlooking the park certainly minimises the distraction.
Free wifi was excellent, with a strong signal and no need for constant sign-ins. The view of the Friday fireworks from the Hilton Hawaiian Village was indeed a classic Hawaiian experience from our lanai, and the echos against the hotel buildings of Waikiki were spectacular. We intended to eat at the Protea Café, but without any air conditioning (only ceiling fans) it was just too warm in there for comfort, so a visit to Vit's across the road provided an excellent meal at a reasonable price. Also great value is the 24-hr. Wailana Coffee House, just a short walk across the park.
Outrigger Luana is close to everything you need in Waikiki - shopping, dining, transport, ABC stores everywhere, pleasant staff, and comfortable accommodation. Shopping nearby at Ala Moana is a bit hit-and-miss during their renovations, but it's worth making your way out of town a little bit to Kahala Mall, Pearl Ridge Shopping Centre or Waikele Factory Outlets for more relaxed shopping. Also Windward Mall at Kaneohe on the North Shore is good value. These are all easy drives, but a $2.50 bus will get you to any of them.
A very enjoyable stay at Outrigger Luana, and we will certainly return.

Room Tip: Partial Ocean View, higher floors, kitchenette room.

Woke up with an itch and rash . There were bed bugs in my sheets.
The hotel did gave me a new room. The staff was helpful but I don't think I was the first one with this problem .The manager never contacted me and I think they don't feel bed bugs are a big deal.

Stayed here for four nights enroute to San Francisco.Whilst we had to wait to check in,the staff did their best to ensure that our wait was kept to a minimum. The rooms were spacious and well decorated, enjoyed the bed and thought it was very comfortable. We had a room fronting the main street, this is a busy road.If you are a light sleeper, suggest that you ask for a room at the back of the building overlooking the park. The laundry room was a huge bonus,we managed to get our washing up to date, had a plunge in the pool whilst our clothes were being washed. We didn't eat in the hotel, with so many eating houses close to hand we decided to eat out.We tended to spend a lot of our time at the beach, especially in the late afternoon when the turtles came close to shore.....amazing.We used the Outrigger Reef on the Beach for refreshments and the occasional meal, its location is right on the beach, the sea is just yards away. There is a military museum along side the Luana which is well worth a visit,it gives a historical insight in to military life on the island.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper, suggest you ask for a room at the rear of the building overlooking the pa...

As a frequent patron of Outrigger venues, I found the Luana to be a bit of a disappointment. Had I never stayed in an Outrigger before, I would have given this place a 4, but holding it against the standards of the other Outriggers, it's going to have to be a 3.

First off, let me say there was absolutely nothing negative about our stay here. Everything was clean, everyone was super friendly and helpful, the price was decent, it's in a good location, and they took good care of us while we were there.

That being said, the fact of the matter is that staying in Luana is nothing to write home about. The rooms, although clean and comfortable, are outdated and uninteresting. Tiled floors and swamp-cooler A/C make the room unattractive; let's just say you wouldn't post a photo of your room to share with your friends. The hotel's lobby is small and unexciting, and you probably won't even notice the single shop and restaurant because there's not much there. The pool area is nice but also small.

Overall, it was an average/good experience. The location is great and the price is decent. It's definitely a step up from a Motel or budget hotel, but it's not up there with resort hotel or condo. An average hotel with an average experience equals an average rating. But if I'm looking to stay at an Outrigger in Waikiki again, I think I'd rather revisit one of the other hotels.
