Staying in Ilikai unit #1143. The view is absolutely top notch. The owner is easily accessible by phone and email to set up the booking reservation. The Hilton Hawaiian Village is adjacent to Ilikai, offering extensive shopping and restaurants. The balcony views include ocean views, Waikiki beach, Hilton lagoon, Ala Wai harbor (setting for Gilligan’s Island TV series and Elvis movie Girls, Girls, Girls), Friday evening fireworks, downtown Honolulu, etc. The sea breeze coming into the unit is refreshing ... except for the occasional cigarette smoke that wafts in from nearby units. We simply shut the balcony doors until the smokers stop; a frustrating experience. We would stay here in the future.

Hubby and I stayed an extra night after we took a cruise from Vancouver to Ohau. We weren't able to check in before our luau so it was 10:00 before we got back to the hotel so we couldn't see anything until the next morning, we had an ocean view room which was wonderful. I thought the room was fine and the full kitchen was great, the vanity in the bathroom showed some wear, a tough up paint job would have done the trick. The king bed was comfortable and the room spacious, we couldn't get the play station to work as there are DVD's that you could watch. Not sure I would stay here again.

Aloha JazyRn!

Thank you for staying at the Ilikai Hotel & Luxury Suites.
Your feedback is greatly appreciated.
I apologize for the inconvenience of not checking in until later in the evening and for the wear and tear in the bathroom. If you don't mind sending me a separate email on what room you occupied, we will definitely look at the bathroom.

Our family stayed at the Ilikai for 10 nights and it was fantastic. We arrived at night pretty late so we couldn’t see anything out the windows. I got up to make coffee pretty early and was greeted with the most spectacular view of the ocean you’ve ever seen! We ate all our meals outside on the lanai and it was just a short walk to the beach. The staff were all great and were quick at delivering any towels etc that we needed at any time. Our cable didn’t work we discovered about halfway through our stay, but they sent a nice man up right away to fix the problem. The only negatives that I would say is that the carpet was pretty old and missing in spots. It would be great to see this replaced. One of the sliding balcony doors to the back bedroom was also not locking. We meant to mention it when we checked out but forgot. It was on the 22nd floor so we weren’t overly worried about it, but it would have made us feel better if it had locked with having kids in there. We just set the ironing board in the sliding part so it couldn’t be opened! These were the only things we can think of that we would change, as our stay was fantastic. We would definitely stay here again if we’re ever lucky enough to visit this beautiful island again!

Room tip: The corner suite on the 22nd floor facing the ocean was spectacular

I found this hotel a bit dated at first. But the location was great. We was on the 24th floor over looking the harbour. Walking distance to the beach. Shops and restaurants on the ground floor. They charge you $25 a night for resort fees. Things like, ice, newspaper, PlayStation games rentals and movie rentals. I didn’t agree to this but it as to be paid. So just remember that. And also they require around $200 for damage security. Which is a nightmare because when you check out it takes about 10 days to be put back into your account.

Aloha 844shaunp!

Thank you for staying at the Ilikai Hotel & Luxury Suites.

Your feedback is greatly appreciated. I'm glad you enjoyed the location of the hotel.

Unfortunately our resort fee is a daily fee of $25 plus tax. You will notice a lot of hotels are starting to charge resort/amenity fee's.

Please let me know if I can be of any assistance in the future.

We booked the Ilikai through WaikikiBeachRentals.com in July 2018 for our trip in April 2019. All transactions took place online and after booking, a reservation summary was emailed to us with all of the information needed for our stay, including a link to make our room payments. We were able to split the payment and have the couple that we traveled with make their share of the payment through the link. I had one communication through the comment section on their website promptly responded to before we booked. Thought it was interesting that we also received, at the time of the booking, a key code for the room and the time it would be active.

When we arrived at the hotel, there was no check-in process or need to go to the registration desk as we simply went to our room and used the key code. There are several elevators servicing the hotel with very short wait times.

We had a 2 bedroom unit, 510, which would have slept 6 due to a sleeper couch. Our unit had a small kitchen (room for 2 to move around) that was well stocked with cooking utensils and dishes/glasses. There was a refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, stove, small sink/garbage disposal, and coffee maker. A bar that had one stool separated the kitchen from the living space. On one end of the room was a dining table with 6 chairs. In the middle was a leather couch, coffee table, small end table, tv cabinet, and a wall mounted flat screen tv. In the other end of the room was another small round table with 4 chairs. The 2 bedrooms were on opposite ends of the room. The master room was a little larger than the other bedroom with a dresser, nightstand, tv, king-size bed, closet space, bathroom, and the small balcony access. The other bedroom had 2 nightstands/lamps, closet space, queen-size bed, tv, access to the unit bathroom, and access to the main balcony (which had a better outside view.) There wasn't much room between the bed and wall mounted tv in this room, so we placed the 1 barstool under the tv so we wouldn't bump into it. The large balcony had a small table/4 chairs that faces the marina/ocean. The smaller balcony faces another hotel/town and had a smaller table with 2 chairs. Both bathrooms had plenty of towels and only soap was provided.

The large windows in this unit give you a nice view. You are asked to turn the AC off when you are not in the room, but it works well and cools the room off pretty fast.

Cinnamon's is the restaurant/bar on the lower floor and we enjoyed several meals, including the buffet, there. There is an ice cream shop, gift store, and a few other specialty shops/services located on the floor also. Although we didn't have to deal with the reception desk and concierge, I had questions for both, and they were very helpful.

The swimming pool was clean. Towels are provided at the pool and there are several lounge chairs, but they do fill up fast during the day. We were still able to get chairs when we went.

The Ilikai is in a nice location and a 15 minute or less walk can get you to several places to shop or eat. The lagoon and beach are only a few minutes walk away with Diamond Head Crater viewable from the beach. In our unit was a beach chair and mat which we made use of. Tour buses and trolleys stop in front of the hotel. There are also some businesses in the marina that provide excursions.

I would suggest and recommend Waikiki Trolley (hop on/hop off) as a cheap way to get around if you don't already have plans. They have several different lines that take you different places for sightseeing.

Would definitely stay at the Ilikai again, probably trying a different unit though.
