We stayed in 2233 and had a wonderful experience. Property seemed recently updated. Room was well designed, bed was comfortable and our lanai had an intoxicating view of the marina. Nice kitchen area.
Elevators are convenient and quick. Staff was very friendly and wanted to be helpful.
You are a short walk from the beach and a nice swim. Ala Moana Park is just across the causeway.
We could not imagine a better choice.

We stayed 3 nights the Ilikai in a individually owned condo. We were traveling with several other families who also stayed here. The nicest were the hotel units. Our unit was nice, but hasn't been fully renovated. They were working in the halls on renovations when we were there. It's a good location on the outer edges of downtown Waikiki. You can walk into the city, but it is a bit of a walk. You can also catch the trolley into downtown. We had a rental car and paid to valet, it was convenient and quick. The hotel has a lot of history including being featured in the original Hawaii 5-0 show, they has some interesting story boards in the hotel. The pool is OK, we preferred the lagoon and the ocean. Quite a walk to the lagoons and ocean with older people and kids in tow. The lobby was nice, the staff was friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Lagoon view to see the fireworks and HHV's rooftop luau. We watched the luau from a alcony on Thanksgiving eating pumpkin pie :)

The Ilikai hotel is over 50 years old and featured in a fair number of the old Hawaii 5-0 show featuring Jack Lord. The hotel is divided into two parts, the condos which can be rented through sites like Air BnB and the hotel portion. The hotel portion has been updated and upgraded over the years but with the condos, renovations and refurbishing depends upon the individual owner.

There is a large children's pool which is very shallow and a general use pool. The location is a terrific asset as you can walk to the beach or marina very easily. There is a concierge on duty with extended hours who is very helpful with booking excursions or even general information and maps. We had hoped to go up to the top in the famous glass elevator but a sign directs the elevator was only for the use of the restaurant patrons. We might have considered having dinner there but frankly the attitude put us off.

The local bus which goes just about everywhere on Oahu departs from the front of hotel. There's a McDonalds across the street and a Subway as well as a small supermarket which stocks more souvenirs than food so is not that useful. The Ala Moana shopping centre is nearby. There is entertainment on the weekends.

We enjoyed our stay at the Ilikai. It isn't as glitzy as the Hilton Hawaiian Village next door, full of shops and restaurants which you can visit, but it suited us.

Room Tip: There's a price difference between the condos and hotel portion. Check out the differences and decide.

The Ilikai is an ideal choice for accommodations in Waikiki. The rooms come with a complete kitchen so you can save a bundle on food and the property is well maintained. Just a 5 minute walk to the beach and 15 minute walk to the tourist areas of Waikiki so you are situated in a prime location without too much of the noise and crowds of the central area of Waikiki. I would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Rooms on the marina side have gorgeous sunset views.

We stayed here for 5 nights and the room was clean and the location was within walking distance to restaurants and the Ala Moana shopping mall and most tours and trolleys stop out the front. There is a nice cafe downstairs and a general store and the restaurant has the best fish tacos.
