“Perfect stay again”
Reviewed June 10, 2013

I stayed at condo 1904 and liked it very much. I had a very early flight in and was on a plane for 3 days, so it was great that I was able to get an early check in and could rest. The condo was in good condition and the views are awsome.
The kitchen etc was all in perfect order. I stayed in the condos before and love the idea of walking to the beach, see the Hilton fireworks and be close to the action without being right in the middle of it. The food at the Ilikai Grill was nice and they to take away as well.
I had a problem with the TV (I am technically challenged:-) and someone came immediately to help me sort things out.
Thanks for a lovely stay.

My husband and I stayed at the Ilikai Hotel Condo 828 from May 30, 2013 to June 5, 2013. The condo was truly home away from home. We were so comfortable there. Everything was nice, check in and check out was hassle free, the condo itself was neat & clean and in a great location. We could not have asked for anything more. I look forward to coming back and staying here in the future.

What a fabulous location. We had a wonderful stay at the Ilikai during the last week of May and the first week of June. Our unit was clean, nicely decorated and well kept. We had a wonderful view of the beach and lagoon. The hotel is steps from the beach. There are loads of restaurants within walking distance. We loved the location and were very happy with our unit.

Our only complaint would be the pool. The pool is older, but well kept and quite quiet. There are two or three condo owners who put their towels on the chairs under the only permanent canopy each morning hours before they arrive and then when they finally arrive the two or three older women run to the attendant every time someone jumps gently into the pool, leans on the divider rope or brings a floaty into the pool, yet two of the three women have floaties. They are relentless and talk loudly about "the Guests". They made sitting by the pool uncomfortable and unenjoyable. I watched dozens of people leave each day because they were basically run out of the pool because of these condo owners. I have never seen such militant pool rules. These women should realize that their unwelcoming and rude behavior is discouraging people from returning to this hotel. We spoke to dozens of guests who were very upset about this. We felt horrible for the pool attendants who had to enforce such silly rules. I agree that people should not be being rowdy and jumping lots, but leaning on a rope?

Room Tip: Make sure you're either beach view or marina view.

It was with some trepidation that we booked one of the Ilikai’s private condominiums for a week in Hawaii, never having rented a holiday apartment before.
What if we paid up front and hated it or there was a problem?
But we felt right at home from the moment we punched in our access code and “checked in” to our condo on the 19th floor, rented from www.waikikibeachrentals.com
The condos look exactly like they do on the website – a granite kitchen with full oven and fridge, a granite bathroom, a sofa in front of a flat screen television and two double beds.
Oh and let’s not forget the view – nothing like opening the curtains to see the white sands of Waikiki Beach and blue skies. This condo also has views of the Friday night fireworks.
The double beds sit in wooden bases that stick out quite close to the storage unit so you have to be careful not to smash your legs on the corners.
Our nine-year-old son slept on the sofa (extra sheets and a rug were supplied) but you probably wouldn’t want a child much older than 9 or 10 trying to sleep on it for a week.
There’s not much room to swing a cat or store bags but the stack cane baskets in the dividing storage unit between the lounge/sleep areas provided just enough space for all four family members to store essential clothes.
The writing desk had a good assortment of pop up power plugs – far better than many business hotels.
The kitchen was well equipped with coffee maker, kettle, toaster, even a rice cooker. We mostly used it for cooking breakfast and reheating leftovers.
When we arrived the bench was set with placemat, crockery etc for two. There were plenty of plates and cutlery but the glasses were a bit light on, topped up by assorted plastic tumblers.
There are coin operated laundries on each floor and most helpfully a laundry basket was in the wardrobe. A clothes airing rack for the lanai/balcony would have been handy.
The bathroom vanity extends over the toilet so keep the lid down to avoid accidentally knocking items in :-) Our bathroom only had a shower but our friends' near identical condo had a shower over a bath.
Towels were supplied for four but there were only two beach towels. Our friends who also booked to stay at the same time noticed this also.
Luckily pool towels were supplied by the pool; you receive passes when you arrive and names are left with the attendants.
We didn’t use the pool much – not when the Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon is a quick walk from the hotel. This is a great place to spent the day swimming or hiring a paddle boat or stand-up paddle board.
There are ABC convenience stores located nearby but the Ilikai’s own general store on the ground floor also had all the essentials from fruit and ice creams to beach mats and bottled water at reasonable prices.
The massive Ala Moana shopping mall is about a 10-15 minute walk away and has an amazing food court with every cuisine under the sun.
Free wi-fi and free local and US calls were included with our rental.
Our understanding was all condos were non-smoking yet each morning we discovered ash on our lanai which was a bit of a nuisance to clean up.
The condos are a great, economical option for families and those who don’t want the pressure of having to leave a hotel by a set time each day so they can make the beds.
We’re saving for a return visit.

Room Tip: Pay attention to the condo plan when booking so you know if you are getting beach/lagoon view, marin...

We just got back froma 10 day stay at The Ilikai Hotel, stayed in one of their condo units on the 6th floor and it was fantastic! I discovered that their location was perfect for our family (2 adults and 2 kids) as its located on the best part of the Waikiki strip = away from all that chaos. We loved going to the beach everyday it was a dream vacation and if we ever get away to Waikiki again, we're staying at Ilikai. Super clean hotel, nice amenities, nice pool and so close to the beach!

My family (mom, sister, and nephew) and I stayed at the Ilikai Hotel for the first time from May 13th-May 20th, 2013. We reserved the Ocean View Two Bedroom Suite (#2410) on the 24th floor. When we walked in, all our jaws dropped as we saw the enormous and excellent views from the suite... views overlooking the marina, beach, partial lagoon, the city, and Ala Moana Beach and Park!

We have been to Hawaii over a dozen times, and we all feel this was the best hotel we've ever stayed at. And the location is very very peaceful and quiet with access to the lagoon and beach, and Ala Moana Shopping center in just a few minutes walking distance. Perfect if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle noise of Waikiki.

First, check-in at the front desk was really fast. The man who helped us was very friendly and he even showed my 2 year old nephew the "hang loose" hand sign and he has been doing and saying it ever since! Lol.

The elevators are fast and you reach the uppers floors in no time. Even as an older hotel, it is very updated with and we were very impressed. The rooms were very quiet and the suite was large enough for the four of us. It had a half kitchen with a nook, microwave, four stove burners, half fridge, dishes, cups, a sink, and small dining room table with chairs. The suite has two bathrooms, and two separate rooms, one with two beds (very comfortable), and another with a king size bed where mom slept (she said was it extremely comfortable, the best ever!) and had access to one of the 2 balconies. Yes, it has two large balconies!

We were at first nervous since we were so high up and having my 2 year old nephew we knew we would have to keep all the doors to the balconies closed that week and just rely on the air conditioning, which worked out just fine as it was so humid and hot that week. I did notice that the front balcony had a metal pin lock that was out of reach for young children, but unfortunately, it was damaged and would not lock. There was one early evening my mother, nephew, and I were in the living room part of the suite, and his mother sat out on the balcony. She closed the heavy sliding glass door behind her, but was still aware and was watching him on the inside. But, unbeknownst to my mother and I... a few seconds later, my nephew was gone in a flash, I ran over to the balcony and he was sitting on his mother's lap outside. My sister saw that he had managed to open the heavy sliding glass door within a few seconds by all by himself. Really scary! And even more scary is the fact that small children can fit through the bars of both balconies.

So I hope Iliaki hotel management reads this and fixes the pin locks on the balcony door and to all balconies on the rest of the floors for child safety.

The housekeeping was so friendly and they cleaned the room each day around noon, sometimes 1:30 pm at the latest.

My mother and sister wanted me to mention to hotel that they did have problem with the dust in the room. They kept sneezing on certain days while in the room and noticed the furniture was dusty, especially the couch, curtains, and chairs, and quite possibly the air conditioning vents may have been dusty inside as well.

But, all in all, we really enjoyed this suite and hotel and the breathtaking views! And we all agreed that we will stay here again and have already recommended it to other family members and friends as well!

Location
Though the location of this hotel is not very central nor beachfront, I still consider the location good because the bus stop is right in front of the hotel. The beach is also easily accessed and a good 10 to 15 minutes walk from the hotel.
Service
The front desk and other service staff were all very polite and gracious. We just had a bad experience with our activity services coordinator who had a great misunderstanding with the Blue Hawaii helicopter company in terms of where to pick us up. This resulted to us moving our helicopter tour from 12nn to 3pm. It was rainy and cloudy on the 3pm tour.
Facilities and Amenities
The facilities and amenities like microwave oven, brewer, ref etc. were a great help to us especially when we did not feel like going down for breakfast.
Room
We got a very big room and it was really spacious with a dressing area before the bathroom. It was cool to have such a big room in Hawaii.
