The Ilikai hotel was a fabulous hotel. We actually stayed with the with Shell Vacation time share suits in the hotel. The staff was incredibly friendly and the location was great. We were on Waikiki beach with about a 15-20 minute walk to the Duke Kahanamoku Statue and a 10 minute walk to Ala Moana mall/center which has great shopping and eating stops. The pool is not so big and no Jacuzzi :( but regardless its still a great place to stay. My only complaint would have to be the comfort of the beds. Im sure they are just a bit old and worn out, my sister had a problem from the beginning but I did not really notice it until the last 2 nights.

We recently stayed (Sept 2012) in a kitchen suite on the 22nd floor. The views were sensational and the location was brilliant. A short 10 minute walk to Ala Moana shopping centre or 10-15 minutes along the beach to the middle of town makes it perfect. Next to The Hilton with it's lagoon and Friday fireworks is also a bonus.

Room Tip: Face the Marina and ocean if possible

My husband and I stayed at the ilikai in condo, 606 (privately owned) The balcony had a terrific view of mariner. The place was very clean and well equipped. and in one of the best locations in Wiakiki. The only drawback was the afternoon sun on the balcony but then again, you can view spectacular sunsets and in the morning, it was an ideal place to have breakfast. nice and shady. The hotel pool could have done with a few more plants. The pool was clean and you were given spotless pool towels and due to the efficient pool attendant, towels were never left on unoccupied chairs so that there was always spare seats for guests. Highly recommended, and so near the beach.....

We stayed in 15th floor marine ocean view studio room for 4 nights. The room is ok for the price we paid (about $200 per night including cleaning fee and tax).
The location is ok, but we would prefer closer to Waikiki center.
The swimming pool is too small, and looks like a swimming pool in an apartment in the U.S.

We will not come back to Ilikai condo again.

We rented an ocean front room through the hotel direct on the 25th floor, room number 2544 for 5 people. View was amazing and the room was modern and was well appointed. We used fold out bed for third person and was plenty of room for all of us. Rooms were serviced daily which was great. Concierge was extremely helpful and made recommendations that not only saved us money but proved to be as good as she said they would be (5 stars for her). Location is close enough to walk to everything including Ala Moana shopping centre. We got to watch the Hilton fireworks from our balcony. Only negatives would be that the balconies are too small but this can't be changed and is merely because of its design era. Beach and pool towels are supplied and all the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Would happily stay there again.

We are a retired New Zealand couple and we stayed in vacation rental unit 806 privately owned by Pat Carstens( see her wbsite). This is a brilliant hotel superbly located on the waterfront with views across the marina. This apartment was about 600sq.ft incl. a large lanai, and was VERY comfortable, spacious and well equiped. One of the great things in life we were able to do was sit on the lanai late afternoon with a bottle of wine and cracker biscuits and watch the sunset....superb! It had a big fully equiped kitchen, and was significantly cheaper than hotel apartments in the Ilikai.
We researched available accommodation and consider this was very good value for Honolulu (which is not cheap) and we had a very happy week here. It's only about 15mins walk fro Ala Moana where you can buy everything ( get groceries from Walmart).

Thoroughly recommended.

We stayed on the south side of the building and we could see East and West, saw the magnificent sunset colours and got up to the sunrise. We could even see the Hilton's fireworks show from our room on our first night. The service is excellent. The hotel even provides you with beach towels and chairs at no extra charge. The beach is minutes away by foot. The hotel is located in the heart of Waikiki, at a walkable distance of shopping and restaurant strips. Great value at $180 per night in Honolulu.
