“Great Location!!”
Reviewed May 16, 2012

My daughter and I went to Hawaii for a wedding and decided to book a place with a kitchen to cut costs. We couldn't have chosen a better place! We loved our suite - loved the view of the lagoon and ocean and everything else. We found it nice to not be in downtown Waikiki even though we walked there many times during our trip (approx 25 minutes).

The wedding had it's reception dinner upstairs at Sorrentos and it was lovely! Since it was a Friday we were able to watch the spectacular fireworks from the Hilton Hawaiian Village - it was pretty awesome!!

We definitely plan to go back!!

Room Tip: We had room 1732 - it was wonderful!

We loved our stay at the Ilikai. The view was incredible from the Honeymoon Suite on the 25th floor. We highly recommend it!

Room Tip: We loved the view from the 25th floor. Obviously the higher up, the better.

We are a family that appreciates a little quiet. This hotel was a great location for that. It is right off the marina and a couple of miles from Waikiki beach, which is easily accessible by walking or taking the bus. We took the bus for all of our excursions and found it very easy to navigate. We especially liked the hotel's location because it was right next door to the Hilton's lagoon for our toddler. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: We stayed in a condo, which we enjoyed. We booked it through AlohaCondos.com

We stayed at the Ilikai Hotel the day before and the day after our inter-island cruise in Hawaii. It's located right between the harbor and the edge of Waikiki Beach and next door to the Hilton Village and lagoon. We arrived on a Friday and were able to sit by the lagoon and watch fireworks. The location was easy to get transportation to from the airport or tour buses. Multiple restaurants and shops are within walking distance. There is a mall that is not far as well.

This is the hotel featured in the opening scenes of the old Hawaii Five-O TV series. The outside decor is dated to that time period, but the inside is timeless and very nice. There are shops surrounding the lobby area and a nice restaurant at the top with a great view while you dine or have a drink. There are plenty of places to sit and relax with beautiful flowerbeds and plants everywhere. The room was very nice and spacious. We had one room on the 22nd floor and one on the 25th floor. They each had a small balcony with a table and chairs where we could enjoy the view. The service at the front desk was top notch. This hotel is a great value. We really enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: Pick ocean side or city side for which view you would like, but both are wonderful. We were pleased...

We chose this hotel on the recommendation of a family member and the reviews of others on Trip Advisor - their descriptions were right on target. The rooms were comfortable, clean and spacious. The bathroom had a separate shower and bathtub and significant closet space. The maid service was excellent and front desk staff were courteous and helpful. We asked for a room near the top and a view of the marina and mountains. The only real ding on this hotel is the fact that there is no casual dining restaurant or coffee shop on property. There is a nice but expensive restaurant at the top of the hotel and a bar on the first floor neither of which we tried. However, The Ilikai is right next door to the much more expensive Hilton Hawaiian Village. We took an easy walk next door for several meals or walked a short distance across the street to a McDonald's for breakfast and a small coffee shop. I would stay there again in a heartbeat. Don't waste time looking anywhere else unless ther is no room at the Ilikai.

The Ilikai is a comfortable, spacious hotel that retains a bit of the slightly kitschy retro fabulousness it must have had back in the Hawaii Five-0 days. Our room was spotlessly clean, and surprisingly large (actually, the largest hotel room I've ever experienced). Our view was spectacular -- truly -- and our room rate was less than half what my friends staying next door at The Modern paid.

The pool is average, and the restaurant/bar won't win any awards, but you're right next door to The Modern, whose pool and restaurant are quite nice. Also, my bed was a bit too firm for my taste.

Area-wise, the good news is that you're off the beaten Waikiki path, but the bad news is that you're off the beaten Waikiki path. (And that path has been beaten to a bloody pulp.) The property is, mercifully, far enough away from Waikiki proper that you won't have to deal with the Vegas-by-the-beach set, but eating options are more limited than at hotels further east. (Given the choice, though, I'll take the latter any day.)

I would absolutely stay here again if I was in Waikiki.

We're locals who wanted a mini staycation getaway, and so happy to have chosen the Ilikai to do so. From the time we drove up, the valet attendants were very courteous and quick in getting someone to help us with our bags. The front desk person was friendly and efficient, and check-in was a breeze. And knowing we were in a bit of a rush to get out and start enjoying ourselves, the bellman brought our bags to the room right away. The room was very modern, clean, and spacious. And the location of the hotel is within walking distance of many shops, restuarants, and the beach. The Ilikai is an awesome place to stay! I highly recommened it to both locals and visitors to our island...
