“Ilikai Was better then average”
Reviewed July 10, 2011

I recently stayed at the Illikai for four nights.
I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by the room. It is a very large room with nice ammenities and very clean. The bed was really nice and the view (although the company where i booked stated ocean view) was decent. my view was blocked by my own hotel if that makes any sense. The Hotel design was so that the rooms towards the middle of the hotel have a partial ocean view. I was on the 24th floor which honestly was a little too high, although i did have a nice view of the Luau that the Hilton puts on daily. (the Hitlon Hawaiin Village is next door). The location was pretty good. I think that it is pretty much the first hotel on the strip. So, it kind of depends on what you want. If you want to be right smack in the middle of Waikiki then you might want to go further down the strip. If you want to be 5-10 minutes away and still be able to walk or take a cab to most places then this will suit you fine. Watch out for the parking prices. All the Hotels charge a 20 a day parking cost. There are nice stores inside the hotel to include a mailing service which was very resonable. Of course once you get outside there are literally hundreds of places to shop and thosands of people shopping there.

Overall I was pleased with my stay, the customer service and the quality of the room.
I would recommend this place to anyone that wants a modestly priced room in Waikiki.

We travelled in June with another family and we each had a 2 bedroom suite at the Ilaki Hotel. Both rooms were fabulous. At first I was a little disappointed at its location because I felt it was a little far from the hub of Waikiki, but as time went on it turned out to be better for us as it was not so crowdwed. It is about a 20 minute walk along the beach to the centre of Waikik beach. The hotel itself was fantastic. It was very clean, and spacious. The beds were so comfortable! The rooms have been refurbished and our views were spectacular. We were there for 10 days and it was great to have so much space. The kids had their own room, plus a family room with table, chairs and a great couch. The kitchen was well equipped although we did not cook, other than breakfast. We had 2 flat screen LCD televisions in the suite which meant the kids could watch what they wanted and free internet which was also great. The pool area was a little daggy, but we never had to fight for a chair or lounge as people from other hotels told us they had to be down at the pool by 7am to get a chair. It was never crowded and the facilities are great. The pool area was always immaculately clean and tidy. The Hilton Lagoon was a 2 minute walk away and that was greatalso. The staff were fantastic. Nothing was ever too much trouble. It was also a 5 minute walk to the Ala Moana shopping centre and the Ward Centre, which was great for a shopaholic like me! Lots of restaurants nearby was also handy. A great place to stay!

Room Tip: Room 2410 and 2426 were fantastc

For the $$$, I don't think this is beatable there. Very large suites, comfortable and remodeled. Its only about 5-10 mins to the hot spots in Waikiki and you can bus over if budget conscious. Beach is about a block away, pool not too crowded (but not to large an area), the Hilton lagoon is very close. If you get a low enough room on the west side, you can watch the Hilton Lua at night. We were on the 25th floor, and it was too strange to look down for more than 10-15 minutes though!

If you are ok with the location, this place is great and I would defintely go back.

Great hotel, public areas spotlessly shiny and clean. Staff friendly and helpful, arrived early before check in time and was given everything required for shower and change using gym shower. Great little book given for local discounts. Situated away from Waikiki beach area but quieter and all transport (shuttles, bus and tourist tram and taxis) stop at hotel.Plenty of places to eat in the evening and wonderful view of the Hilton lagoon and beach and marina. Stayed in the hotel room and this was huge with large flat screen TV and bathroom with bath and separate shower. Had 2 large beds with clean crisp fresh bedding and large lanai.
Really enjoyed our stay here and thoroughly recommend it. Thanks to Chester for looking after us.

My mother and I picked the Ilikai Hotel for our special mother daughter trip to Waikiki for Mother's Day. The hotel is very beautiful and the staff is spectacular. We stayed for 7 nights and everyone was so pleasant and helpful. The rooms are very large and the bathroom is also very ample. We absolutely love the location and service we received while we stayed with the Ilikai, we hope to repeat this trip as a complete family next year for my daughter's high school graduation present. Even though we had only a mountain view room, it was a welcoming site!

First trip to Hawaii.. found the Ilikai to be quite nice. Great value, staff was very helpful and friendly, room was huge and very clean. Kitchen was nice sized to. The king bed was very comfortable with quality bedding. Bathroom was large and nicely remodeled as the hotel was built in the 60's but doesn't look rundown or dated to me. It is in a great location to us since we don't like the hustle and bustle of the busiest section of town. It was only a block away from that area however. Walk out the back to bar/restaurant and great view of the Yacht Club/harbor and lagoon. Short walk to Waikiki beach. Nice and quiet at night for sleeping. We stayed on the street side of the hotel with a great view of the city/mountains..21st floor. Nice roomy balcony overlooking the street/view. Wired internet was fast and free. Overall great visit...didn't used the gym so can't speak to that.

My husband and I spent ten nights here at the end of May.
Having been to Waikiki before, we were familiar with the location of the Ilikai.
The Ilikai sits away from the central hub of Waikiki. To the front is the main road, to the rear the beach/ marina. Buses and trolley buses stop outside the hotel. A walk to central Waikiki strip is a flat, easy 15 minute walk either along the road or along the beach. Little tipsy at Dukes ? Take the trolley bus home for $2.
The Ala Moana mall can be found 10 min walk in the other direction. That $2 trolley ride home to the front door comes in handy with all those shopping bags.
Restaurants n shops are all seconds away. More eating and shopping can be done at the Hilton Hawaiian Village next door.
Our room. Ocean view on the 22nd floor. Overlooking the pool n the hilton lagoon area giving a perfect view of the Friday night fireworks and the nightly luau at the Hilton.
Huge bedroom with great size lanai met my approval. Fridge , safe and two wardrobes. Dressing area. Bathroom n bedroom lovely n clean.
Downside? After the big bedroom , the bathroom is a let down. Yes it's clean n nice enough but it's Tiny ! Toilet was between the sink counter top and the shower. Shower had a curtain and was a big shower but no light in the actual shower made it dreadfully dark and u have to basically push past the toilet to get in n out of it. To be fair, having spoken to another person staying there, they didn't feel their bathroom was small so maybe we were unlucky. I would suggest replacing the curtain with a glass shower door to let it more light n possibly make it feel larger.
For the price, this is excellent value.
If u like to be in the thick of things , maybe this isn't for you but if u enjoy a stroll this should be on your short list.
The tired exterior of this hotel belies the well kept, airy and highly polished interior of this old lady.
