“First class hotel with a first class staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 1, 2010

This is a beautiful hotel (recently renovated and updated). The room was very modern with big screen HD TV, the view from our room was outstanding. The staff here took very good care of us. There is no doubt that when we return to Honolulu, this hotel will be our preference.

I'll stay at this hotel next time I go to Hawaii, it was in an excellent location, easy walk to the beach, right next to two or three bus stops and a corner store (ABC). I will make sure I ask for a room with a QUIET fridge though!! Made it very hard to sleep, it was so loud and we couldn't turn it off. We loved that the hotel was non-smoking, well done Hilton!! The room still stank of cigarettes when we first walked in but after we aired the room it was better. The air con worked great which is sometimes rare.

We had an executive ocean view room with two double beds. The beds were very comfortable and fairly new, the bathroom was a good size and even though it was a tub shower it was more than adequate. Room was clean and daily housekeeping was good, however some areas haven't been dusted for many months. I had to take off the polyester mattress protector and feather quilt/pillow and the staff made the bed daily just the way I wanted it. Internet access was complimentary to executive club and worked very well. The view from the room was just lovely, well worth it. Watch out if you leave your balcony door open though, we had pidgeons and little birds stepping into the room.

The executive club food and beverages were pitiful, don't even bother going down there. The pool area is a bit out dated and neglected, but who can blame them with Waikiki beach just down the road? We had cocktails by the pool and they were made great, really nice! There was a coffee maker in the room and supplied Kona coffee but it was so terrible, and then we couldn't even get water hot enough out of it to make a cup of tea. A bit annoying, but a trend in most hotels now.

The food in the restaurant was average, fast friendly service, but the food's not great. However we found most of the food in Hawaii the same, except for The Cheesecake Factory. Make sure you go there for something decent. They have a small shop in the hotel that is handy, but not nice when the attendent adds to the listed prices and waves the tip jar at you. We liked that the mini bar was empty, a useless thing anyway and one less thing I have to check on the bill for mistakes.

Even though I've had some criticisms, I would stay at this hotel again, overall it's above average, I doubt you'd be disappointed.

Were told it was on the ocean...it is if you count 3 blocks away. Were supposed to have a king size bed, were sent to a room with two double beds. This was corrected quickly. First night we were woke up twice with teenagers running up and down the hall way. Called security and got it stopped. Second and third night we were woke up 3 to 5 times with the foot ball players upstairs. security would take care of it but as soon as they would leave it would start up louder untill we were just stressed and sleep deprived. We demanded another room for the fourth night, which we got, in an upgraded room. That night we were woke up at aprox 4;00am by a VERY LOUD party next door. Called security about 4;30am as it kept getting worse. They came and asked them gently to please keep it down. I went out and told them that it would start up again in 15 min.just like every other night. As we were almost back asleep the guys next door came beating on our door with their fist. Luckily security stayed just down the hall this time and saw it happen. By this time I could not stop crying and my husband had had enough and was ready to kill someone. Because security was ther and said the guys had to leave the hotel my husband came back to the room. Even though the room was paid for we stayed some where else for four nights paying twice for lodging. We were given a basket of beads, candle, etc and access to the exec lounge for free breakfast and snacks. This did not make up for being so worn out due to stress and no sleep that the first part of our vacation wasw ruined.

  • Liked — Nice lounge
  • Disliked — No sleep between 11;00pm and 4;00am--not for anyone who sleeps at night

I have been coming to Oahu for over twenty years on business and have had a few "preferred" places to stay over the years. For the last 2 years or so it's been the Hilton Prince Kuhio. As a business traveler everything at this hotel works for me. The room is quiet and clean. The restaurant (MAC 24-7) has a varied menu that is available 24x7. The location is just far enough away from Kalakaua ave and all the stuff there and the staff is ALLWAYS friendly and happy. As a bonus the hotel is smoke free. Yes the internet is an added cost. Yes the parking is an added cost. But it is at most hotels. This trip (I’m staying here know) we had a “Tsunami” roll in (DUD). The hotel handled the "event" PERFECTLLY. Plenty of timely information. As a matter of fact I have already made a reservation for April at the same hotel.

Thank you for the kind words and for being a loyal guest. Am happy to see the Tsunami did not spoil your visit and that the staff handled themselves well during the event. Guest safety is paramount.

We look forward to your visit in April.

Although there are many lodging options in Honolulu, I found the Hilton Waikiki Prince Kuhio Hotel to be a perfect blend of location, amenities, views, and value. The front of the hotel overlooks the ocean, although it is actually a block off the coast. I found my room to be very spacious, clean, comfortable, and am assuming recently updated. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful from the parking attendants, front desk attendants, and cleaning staff.

One of the best features of the hotel is the location. It is an easy and quick one block walk to the main drag of Waikiki where one will find all the famous surfing sculptures and statues that line the street. Honolulu's finest shopping and restaurants are also an easy walk from this property as is the Honolulu zoo.

One interesting feature of this Hilton property is the restaurant, "MAC 24-7", in the hotel lobby. For those who have ever watched "Man v Food" on the Travel Channel, this is the restaurant where Adam Richman took on the "Mac Daddy Pancake Challenge." This is a great spot for breakfast or late night food.

For the price, location and quality in Waikiki, one would be hard pressed to find better.

Bennyhavens,

Thank you for your wonderful review. It is greatly appreciated. Our location provides our guests with easy access to all fun that Honolulu and Waikiki are famous for. I was happy to see you had an opportunity to experience Mac 24/7, hopefully you took the pancake challenge. Eating four pounds of pancakes is not easy, as Adam Richman found out.

I hope your travels bring you back to wonderful Hawaii.
