Great day out with a friendly, informative and patient instructor (Jeremy). Walk is relatively easy but wouldn't suggest it if you are extremely unfit or have knee/ankle issues. Absolutely stunning scenery-we were very relaxed after the hike. The trek is separate to other tours in the area so it is much more relaxing and personal. Highly recommend!

This was a great afternoon and the team running the show are wonderful. We were collected on time - hard to miss our pick up with all the bikes on the van roof! Then off to pick up the hikers who would be joining us - they all raved about their adventure. Up to the top of Mt Tantalus, and after the safety talk off you go. This a a very leisurely trip mostly down hill, and the speed is very controlled. Once at the end, a bit of a wait while the guys sort the bikes and we were off to the marina. The catamaran was beautiful with a great crew, not sure but I think Buddy the dog was the true captain! Snorkeling was amazing and the boys invited a turtle to swim with us - amazing too! The sail back was very peaceful and this was a great trip. We were dropped back at our lodgings and were throughly exhausted - and we didn't even hike!

First impression: I called Bike Hawaii to discuss their dirt mountain biking trip. They took the time to answer my questions in detail, not something you always find with tour companies. It's clear that the person at the end of the phone took a lot of pride in what he does.
Second impression: Jeremy, the tour leader, picked me up on time with a warm welcome. What a great energy this guy has! He really puts his heart and soul into what he does, in a really genuine way. More like biking with a friend for the day than a commercial tour.
Third impression: the destination really needs to be seen to be believed. No wonder Hollywood films so much in this valley (and though it seems as pristine as God left it, so you'd never know). The ancient Hawaiians revered this site, believing that there that there is a higher "concentration" of the island's "spirit" in this location, and I kind of belive that.
As others have stated, it's helpful to be in basic shape for this trip, although we were a pretty diverse group and somehow Jeremy made everyone successful.
Best thing I did during my vacation. Thanks.

I participated in their 100% Dirt Adventure and had a great time.

The bike ride is through magnificent Kualoa Ranch and the Koolau Mountain Range, taking you past movies sets like Jurassic Park and into the tropical forests, with great ocean views all along the way. The guide did a great job explaining the local history and sharing about the flora in the area.

This trip is definitely a work out. I am in good physical shape and certainly worked up a good sweat, but would not say it was overly difficult. The guide did a fantastic job going at a steady, yet forgiving pace, so that everyone in our group felt comfortable.

The lunch, which is a sandwich, chips, cookies, and water/soda, is nothing to write home about, but it certainly wasn't bad either.

What's Green:
They are members of the Hawaii Ecotourism Association and were recognized in 2011 as a Bronze Level awardee. It is a small, locally owned business.

Insider Tip:
This is a great trip to do on a rainy day! The mud adds to the adventure and if you get periods of sunshine, you get beautiful rainbows too!

Only runs a couple days a week so you have to plan ahead if possible. I wouldn't recommend this for those that are out of shape.

We started our morning with a downhill bike ride. It was 5 miles. that may seem long to some but if you do any bike riding it really is not that far and going down hill it is a very quick. Safety was first. We had helmuts and a guide in front and back and van following. Unfortunately we braked alot and did not do any speedy cruising. We had a lunch break with an amazing view of downtown Honolulu and Diamond Head.
I have to say our hike trip was more exciting and adventuresome. We donned rubber boots and were off through the rain forest to Manoa Falls. The guide showed us flora and Fauna. The falls were not impressive because there had not been much rainfall and it depends on that for the water source. On the mile back we hiked through a bamboo forest. That was a blast. It was like being in a tropical corn maze!
