Description: Welcome to Il Lupino Trattoria and Wine Bar, created by famed New York restaurateur Wolfgang Zwiener, serving delicious, authentic Italian cuisine in a relaxing, yet sophisticated atmosphere, featuring indoor and outdoor bar and dining and a Salumeria featuring imported Italian cheeses, hand-cut meats that pair superbly with our wines by the glass list. While growing up in Europe, Wolfgang Zwiener discovered his passion for true Italian cuisine. In Italy, the locals would affectionately call him "Il Lupino", meaning "Little Wolf". It became his dream to open an Italian restaurant that would offer all his favorite dishes from Italy. That dream came to fruition in December 24th, 2010, when Wolfgang and his son, Peter, proudly opened their flagship Il Lupino Trattoria and Wine Bar at the Royal Hawaiian Center, in the heart of Waikiki. They hope you will enjoy the delicious Italian food created with love, dedication and passion. You might even meet Wolfgang himself in the restaurant while you are visiting. Pasta is prepared daily fresh and all our product comes directly from the Island. Lustful creations incorporating the fresh local seasonal produce, imported Italian cheeses, hand-cut meats and a variety of seafood accented with hand-made pastas. Our team is committed to exceeding expectations as they delight and satisfy while creating a memorable dining experience. Featuring wines from around the world our award winning selections enhance our cuisine and your experience. Focused primarily on Italian and Domestic selections we have something for every wine enthusiast!

“A Pleasant Surprise, Will return”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 3, 2014

Sat at bar which was very warm and inviting and not crowded with drunks like the Cheesecake Factory next door. Played really cool chill music.

Great wine list by the glass including Italian regions. Started with a glass of Nebbiolo from Piedmont and the antipasti meat ball. This thing was the size of a baseball but was so light and flavorful. Mostly veal with almost no filler. I finished craving more.

Entree is gnocchi in truffle cream sauce. Melt in your mouth and not too heavy. Cream sauce wasn't overdone. Just the right amount of richness. I think they oversold the truffle though. I was under the impression that truffle would be shaved over top. But alas it was only white truffle oil bringing the flavor. But honestly a good dish for $22.

I liked the menu, service, atmosphere, and food. I will return

“Decent food but pricey”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 27, 2014

We had dinner here and the food was rather just decent yet very pricey as one comes to expect from any establishment in this locale.

Service was decent and not very personable. Seemed to cater to tourists staying at hotels in this area...

For more authentic good Italian food, ambiance, and service at better prices we recommend Arancino, the original location, not the new one sat the Marriot or Kahala...

Professional attentive servers. We both had the eggs Benedict which were very good. Lovely outdoor area with tables in shade or sunshine

“Pricey but Great”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 22, 2014 via mobile

We happened to walk by this restaurant earlier this week and without any reservation walked in for dinner. The service was so-so, but the food was very good. My wife ordered a bread salad and I started with a caprese. The tomatoes in both salads were not as flavorful as I would think if they were locally grown, but still not bad. We split the tagliatelle bolognese and it was very good, sauce not overwhelming and the pasta was a perfect al dente. Huge wine list. Lots of specials and desserts. All in all a very nice place.

Reasonable priced breakfast, just don't order any coffees or water. $9 for a bottle of water and $9.50 for a cappuccino (in a small cup). Major rip off
