We didn't expect to find authentic Italian in Hawaii, but we did. Arancino is the real thing. In fact, we liked it so much that we returned for a second meal during our one-week vacation. It is small, quiet, romantic and on a side street. Yes, there are Italian flags. Expect a wait, but it is worth it. Visit the adjacent ABC store while you wait. First time we both had baked lasagna with meat sauce. After the first bite we knew we had found a gem. It was perfect. On the second visit my wife started with lobster bisque while I had the spicy tomato calamari soup. Both were awesome, and my wife is very particular about her bisque. She reprised the lasagna while I tried the gnocchi. The gnocchi comes in a creamy pesto sauce, but I requested it alla checca, which they did without hassle or extra charge. Gnocchi is often overcooked, but not theirs. I loved it. The service was excellent both times. Their wine list is a bit short, but our server helped us with suitable selections.
