We didn't expect to find authentic Italian in Hawaii, but we did. Arancino is the real thing. In fact, we liked it so much that we returned for a second meal during our one-week vacation. It is small, quiet, romantic and on a side street. Yes, there are Italian flags. Expect a wait, but it is worth it. Visit the adjacent ABC store while you wait. First time we both had baked lasagna with meat sauce. After the first bite we knew we had found a gem. It was perfect. On the second visit my wife started with lobster bisque while I had the spicy tomato calamari soup. Both were awesome, and my wife is very particular about her bisque. She reprised the lasagna while I tried the gnocchi. The gnocchi comes in a creamy pesto sauce, but I requested it alla checca, which they did without hassle or extra charge. Gnocchi is often overcooked, but not theirs. I loved it. The service was excellent both times. Their wine list is a bit short, but our server helped us with suitable selections.

We stumbled on Arancino by accident one evening and had one of the best meals of our trip to Honolulu. The service was fantastic and food was very high quality and authentic Italian. We loved it so much we went back on our very last night!

We liked the atmosphere of Arancino as well as the menu. The shrimp salad with grapefruit - simply delicious. The pasta was also great as was the service. Definitely worth to go there!

We strolled past this place at about 8.30pm and were told we would need to wait for 40 mins. After some pretty good selling from the hostess, we decided to hang around and have a drink at the bar before a table was ready. The Fresca cocktail was absolutely delicious and the Peroni in a long tall glass was cool and refreshing. The wait was only 20 mins which was good. We shared a mozzarella and tomato salad, and then had spaghetti and meatballs, and a fettuccini crema with asparagus and prosciutto. The food was terrific and amongst the best Italian I have had in a while. It is just a shame we were never offered water, our appetizer plate not removed and the same cutlery required for the main course. We had to ask for pepper, and request a second round of drinks...the bottom line is the service was very ordinary and not reflective of the tasty food. The service at the other tables looked pretty efficient and good. Our service experience could be summed up by a waiter that didn't even serve us thanking us for coming...our own waiter - Tauraen? - didn't even bother...how disappointing. Great meal, shame about the service.
