The Modern is the perfect hotel for hipsters and chillin in Honolulu. The rooms are super chic and clean (all white and with all the things you need) Boutique style and "Modern.." The staff is helpful and the location makes it easy to go anywhere. ( Walking/Bus/Cab) I loved the bar/restaurant and had a relaxing experience just sitting by the pool having breakfast. ( I also loved the Coconut Mojito's in the evening. There are a lot of "just ok" hotels that are expensive, and this is an amazing hotel for the price. I recommended it highly and I was there for business.. but it felt like a vacation!! P.S. Don't forget to sign up for Stash rewards (the hotel rewards program)

Room Tip: Try to stay in rooms toward the beach, not as much sound because it is off the main street. (Ala Mo...

This hotel is for couples with no kids. This hotel is friendly for kids, however there is nothing for kids to do at the hotel. For couples it is the best. Very modern styling and the rooms are very comfortable. The hotel is located near the Ala moana mall and Hilton village. So there is lots of shopping within 10min walk. If you walk 20min you can go down towards Waikiki beach, thats where all the upper class and 4star restaurants and shopping is.
This hotel has a morning room service and a afternoon "turn down" service which provides more towels, free ice and 2bottles of water.
It is not located on the beach, however you can walk 5min down the street and go through the Hilton and the beach is right there.

Room Tip: Do not get rooms below the 12 floor. Street noise was an issue so higher up the better.

This is not on the beach but is walkable to the beach, has two great pools, and a modern aesthetic. Service by the poolside restaurant could have been much better, but all in all, for a $175 priceline stay, very good.

I just returned from a week at The Modern Honolulu. I can honestly say it was one of the nicest hotels, and nicest experiences I've had staying in a hotel, in my life (rivaled only by the W in Westwood, Los Angeles). Modern Honolulu is a very chic hotel located two hotels down from the Hilton Hawaiian Village. The Modern doesn't have its own private beach, but you can walk next door and access the beach very easily. You might not want to very often, though, because the Modern's pool area is fabulous beyond belief. They have a salt water pool, gorgeous chaise lounges and couches and comfy beds, and yummy drinks; there's even an upper level adults-only pool area for folks who don't like the company of children (but there weren't many at the main pool area anyway). The food's pretty good for a poolside bar, too, and there was even live music (soft, romantic) on Sunday evening. The Modern serves free coffee (Kona, of course!) with organic milk every morning from 6:30 to 9:00 a.m. They valet park your car and bring it promptly when you ask for it. The room was on the smallish side, but it was very well appointed with its own balcony, comfy bed, nice desk and TV, safe, good closet, and beautiful bathroom. The room is a little noisy, but Honolulu is a big city so I expected that. The staff people at the Modern are very accommodating: they even bring ice to your room upon request! Room service was great, too. I highly recommend Modern Honolulu. I will definitely be back! :)

Room Tip: I had a great corner room on the 12th floor.

My wife and I selected The Modern based on reading dozens of feedbacks and we were not disappointed. The staff are super attentive without being obtrusive and the room was clean and lived up to the hotel's moniker. We stayed in room 628, a city view room, from June 1st to June 7th 2012. There was some street noise and, on Friday and Saturday nights, noise from the bar downstairs until 3 am. But we kept the tv on to mask the noise and slept through most of it. Never heard anything from adjoining rooms other than some doors closing in the hallway. This hotel is best suited for couples. There were a few babies at the pool, but no adolescents, perfect for those wanting a quite place in the sun. The selection of background music was also done very well. A ten-minute walk will take you to Ala Moana Mall (west bound) or The Outrigger Hotel/Fort Derussy Park (east bound). We didn't rent a car because the $28/day parking more than doubled the cost and we preferred walking off the meals we had anyway. Call speedishuttle.com for transport to/from airport. Cost was $28 each way (for two) and they have a fleet of new Mercedes high-top vans.

After a great cruise from Sydney,Australia we spent 4 nights at the Modern hotel, Honolulu with a great view to the Laguna outside the Hilton komplex. We were told that the hotel recently changed owner and name, which normally is a bit suspicious, but we can assure that this hotel is a bargain at the Waikiki beach. Quiet area for a rather big city, excellent service from a young and friendly staff at the desk, concierge with very professional help finding trips around the island. First time ever, free hotel postcard service world wide. Probably cost them peanuts compared to hotel rate, but great, unexpected service. Fine pools and top level service even there. Will highly recommend this hotel.Gourmet Japanese style restaurant in the building . This hotel is worth the price. For a couple it`s a 15 $ taxi from airport to hotel, less if you`re 3 or 4. We shall be back !!

Staying at the Modern Honolulu was a joyous experience. Staff were friendly and helpful at the front desk & around the pool day & night. There were many "bits extra" to enhance the experience. For instance, the awesome saltwater pool and fitness center were open 24/7 & that was great for jet-lagged guests. The rooms were beautiful & yes, modern. We loved our roomy balcony, and there really was a good ocean view. We enjoyed eating breakfast by the pool - the Portuguese sweet bread French Toast was my favorite. Wall Street Journals and Honolulu newspapers were available each day, even for late sleepers. The pareo was a nice touch, as a bathrobe would be too hot.

Room Tip: Loved our ocean view room with large value, worth paying extra.
