Great open space, better to go when the tide is in as you will encounter less stones underfoot. Never overcrowded like most of the other beaches around Waikiki. The Fort DeRussy park give a large grass area if you don't wish to sit on the sand. The park also provides BBQ's which are free to use just need to supply the fuel

A wonderful expanse of green and trees leading down to a beach with a view across to Diamond Head. There's a walking path that leads in one direction to the Hilton complex and the other to Waikiki.
A real treat for those that prefer their beaches less crowded than Waikiki main beach.
I can see why the locals love it so much.

One of the few free things you can do in Honolulu . Closed Sunday and Monday . Really worthwhile especially if you are going to pearl harbour , I would suggest you do this 1st so to give a better appreciation of the events of that fateful day
