It's so lush, unlike CA when the weather gets warm. Runners, yoga, great stroll, kids.....nice place to be.

A place of solitude and reflective quiet. To think, there is a park on the edge of this state's most crowded landmarks, Waikiki Beach, where you can set and enjoy quiet - astounding. May it always be so!

This was adjacent to our hotel and we used it everyday. My husband jogged, we walked at night as a shortcut to the shops and beach. For an inner city park, found it very clean & felt safe.

Pros and Cons of Fort Derussy Beach Park

Pros
1) Amenities: Bathrooms, Showers, Rental equipment, tables, Covered shelter
2) Located near eateries
3) Great place for BBQ (Public grills)
4) Beach Volleyball, Racket ball courts
5) Great place to watch every Friday night Fireworks (from Hilton) at 7:45 pm
6) Spacious
7) Play tourist for a staycation
8) Check out the Army Musuem for free
9) Views of Diamond Head
10) Spacious sand and calm waters (paddle out for surfing)

Cons
1) Homeless people
2) Parking (You may find metered parking, park at Rockpiles or park at Fort Derrusy park
3) Its in Waikiki
4) Crowded
5) Expensive for food, parking, etc. (You pay tourist prices)

As you can see the positive outweigh the negatives. However bottom line it is in Waikiki and how often do locals drive to Waikiki for a picnic when there are so many other options in Hawaii.

Keiki play structure. (Some) shade. Picnic tables. Grass. Toilet and beach showers. Aka parent paradise. Public accessway just south of the Hilton, opposite Port Hilton pier.

Fireworks every Friday at 7:45p every week

Nice area next to Waikiki Beach. Lots of room for family picnics, a game of beach volleyball, or just relaxing. Next to Fort DeRussy museum. Close to takeout food and washrooms also available.
