This is the gem of the Waikiki Beach but many people seem to miss or walk by the Fort DeRussy Park. It consists of several blocks of mostly parkland on which the military hotel and Fort DeRussy Museum are located. The hotel is for military personnel only, but the museum is really interesting and the park is a respite in the center of bustling Waikiki. The beach is open to everyone and is quite good and less crowded than Waikiki central. It also offers restrooms and beach showers. This is what Waikiki could have been without the predatory hotel chains that insist on building into the ocean. I loved walking through Fort DeRussy in the morning and evening.
