This was great and I really enjoyed seeing inside a submarine. Not an every day occurrence. Was pretty squishing and wouldn't want to be a bigger person as I might have gotten stuck!

Audio was good and had both adult and kid versions. Yes, the photo at the beginning is corney but we did buy the newspaper at the end (your photo is on the front page) :)

Eat before you go, only hot dogs and nachos.

Going through the submarine and seeing the conditions was amazing. Make sure you get the free audio tour, to hear stories from the men that served on the ship

The Bowfin had a great record in the WW2 war effort. You can go into the sub and an audio tour is available.

A lot of stuff can be crammed into a small space. The USS Bowfin demonstrates how true that is. As I walked through this diesel-powered WW2 sub I was amazed by the equipment that was still crammed inside, including the 10 torpedo tubes, the torpedoes, 4 V-16 diesel engines, the electric motors used when submerged, the communication gear, old radio tubes, dishes in the galley, dials, controls, polished brass, even the pin-ups still stuck to the walls by the bunks. Touring the sub brought back the claustrophobic world of the U-boat in the German movie “Das Boot.” What a rush of adrenaline and terror the men must have experienced as they engaged the enemy. And engaged they did. Although submarines made up only a tiny percentage of the U.S. Navy, they destroyed nearly one-third of the Japanese Navy during WW2. And the Bowfin is credited with having sunk 23 Japanese ships.

The USS Bowfin is an amazing well-preserved artifact and a necessary reminder of a distant war. I feel honored to have had the opportunity to step inside.
