As mentioned before, they give you a headset to listen too while you progress throught the sub. Each location has a code to punch into the head set and gives you a description of the area with some commentary from crew members. The problem is if you wnat to listen to the whole audio for each section, you will be rushed by the people behind you and since youare on a sub, there isn't room in most areas to let someone pass so you are forced to move ahead without getting the full experience.

It's like $20 per person. You get a lightweight headphone set with a digital playing device to take with you on board. You dial-in the digital playing device code that corresponds to what you're looking at, and you just take off. Man, this is yet another thing to avoid on the island if you're unhappy in tight spaces. You will get, first-hand, an up close and personal view of the type of living quarters endured by the Bowfin's crew.

I love visiting the USS Bowfin. It can be very emotional reading the tombstones dedicated to each of the crews that were lost. Many times they describe what they think happen to them. The submarine portion of the tour is also amazing. Be sure if you are over 5' 8" to duck when walking through doorways. The gift shop has items not only related to submarines but also WW II in general. While you visit the Arizona, stop by here also. it's right next door!

Don't miss the chance to board an actual WWII submarine and learn about the "silent warfare" performed by the many submarines and sailors during WWII. In addition, check out the museum. There is an exhibit for the USS Finback, which is the sub my uncle served on during the war and that saved the first President Bush from enemy capture when his plane was shot down over the Pacific. It's hard to imagine 80 men living in those cramped quarters for weeks at a time. Well worth the visit.

loved being able to access the whole sub and really see what it was like to live aboard a WWII submarine.
