My son, wife and I dove four days with Reef Pirates in August '12. On two days we did a 'private charter' and had great experiences. On the two other days we had totals of 5 people (one guide) and 7 (two guides). These dives were uneventful. The guides were informative and the boat clean and well maintained.
We would have given an excellent except for two events. First, there was some confusion about 'protocol' when diving nitrox. We are still fairly new divers (about 25 dives each) and we were ridiculed for trying to faithfully follow the nitrox protocol we had been taught. Bottom line, Reef Pirates seems pretty cavalier about nitrox safety. As you were taught: trust your own testing.... and, unfortunately, bring your own meter just in case.
Our second event was when we lost track of the guide half way through a dive. We still had our buddies so we didn't abort the dive but it was disconcerting. Again, we are new to the sport and get nervous when anyone (even a guide) is diving alone. Needless stress.
We are still learning what to expect in the sport but, bottom line, we had good dives.

I apologize for any confussion with regards to the Nitrox but I assure you we follow the standards very carefully. We had a nitrox analyzer on board however. We tried to explain its use to your son, however he chose to ignore us and ended up blowing the sensor out - which requires an expensive replacement sensor. Additionally, as a nitrox diver, it is recomended you have a second analyzer to verify results. You didn't have a second analyzer. Having said that all the tanks were analyzed twice (when filled by our o2 provider) and by us when we got them from the vendor. As for the dives - Our goal is always for our guests to have a great time, but we obviously can not control what shows up at the sites and when. Additionally our dives are all guyided, when our instructor (guide) noticed you were not following them they regathered the group and proceeeded with the dives. Certified divers do have a responsibility as well to follow directions (see above about nitrox analyzer use) and the guides we provide. Our goal obviously is to provide a superior service, and I believe we do. Sorry to hear you do not agree, but I stand 100% behind our crew and our standards.

I had a blast with everyone at Reef Pirates. I just went out for the afternoon, but we got two dives in. I saw everything I hoped to see, and more. we swam around with turtles and Laurie pointed out that we could hear whales passing by underwater. I loved that the boat was small and clean. It felt like I was just taking a trip with some close friends. I would definitely dive with Reef Pirates again.

I had a great dive with these guys... unfortunately the wind was up, so we couldn't go far. After I mentioned a certain fish that I was interested in, he made sure we went to a site where he knows I might have seen them. I really loved the care for the environment. Warning divers not to touch anything. Have dived in other places in the past where even the DM's picking stuff up and passing it to the divers!!! That really impressed me... as I am a big believer of the 'Take pictures, leave bubbles' mantra. Thanks for the dive guys! Would love to dive with them again...

Dove May 2011 and great time. See last year's review. Different the year but all good. Their new boat needs shade but a great small dive boat otherwise. Dive masters were both great. Dive sites were super close and good.

I love a small dive shop and small boat. The way it should be. Go with these guys.

Don't look anywhere else!!!!....these guys are incredible!!....Sean, Chase, Zack, Lori.....all fantastic divers & great people too! They were great with my wife & I who are certified divers as well as with four other "newbies" to diving we took with us! We dove 8 timed with them over three days & I have never felt more comfortable with a dive master than I did with Chase. Can't say much else besides the fact that he is awesome!! He pointed out wildlife to us....including a decent sized octopus, multiple moray eels (one very large one), & fish galore! The highlight of the dive trip though was going down to the WWII Corsair at the bottom of the ocean...106' deep.....it was majestic....I'll post pics later.....don't dive with anyone else!!!
