Aloha Tower has magnificent views of the harbor, however, it closed by 5, please check opening times as they might change. Walk to the waterfront and enjoy the sunset, the big ships come in or leave, all for free. There is a very nice casual dining place in the area Gordon Biersch, great German beer food at very reasonable prices and great views. They also have an old Style Spaghetti Factory. The place was crowded but I have not eaten there.

The Aloha Tower may be old but it offers spectacular views of the docks, the city and the aerodrome runway. The security guard at the lift is helpful in ensuring only 6 people use the lift at a time. A piece of history that now provides a photography platform for tourists.

Aloha Tortilla factory is located at Hawaii Pacific University nest to the Tower Clock. It is an outside eatery. The food is made to order, so everything was fresh. You order have a seat and they bring it to you. Prices are good, I guess it is catered to college students.

Historically significant old entrance to the port.

Now almost hidden by shopping and skyscrapers.

Kinda sad that we bury history in this fashion.

Good views from the tower.

Worth a stop.

A brief walk from the cruise terminal, the Aloha Tower is one of the few free attractions in Honolulu. An easy access lift takes you up 10 levels to the observation galleries. From there you get brilliant views of the city and also the end of the airport runway. We watched several commercial airplanes take off and immediately turn right to avoid flying over the city, then saw five F-22 Raptors take off in quick succession, they didn’t turn left, they just went straight up! A very rare treat. There are lots of shops and restaurants in the complex around the tower and lots of photo opportunities. Not to be missed if you are lucky enough to visit Honolulu. Far more attractive than the overcrowded lunacy that is Waikiki Beach.
PS Don’t forget to look over the harbour wall to see the amazing fish and corals just below you.
