“Hole-In-the Wall has Great Korean Food”
Reviewed August 5, 2013

We had been here before since this was our 7th time at Waikiki. It is a hole in the wall near one of the entrances to the International Market Place from the Kuhio Avenue side. Written on the walls are sayings and thanks from many of the visitors- local and international. The decor and atmosphere is not the greatest but the food is great. I had Bulgogi-short ribs and my wife had fish. Food was great and authentic Korean and had about 6-7 condiments. Service was good also. The place was very noisy since a party of 15 arrived right after us.

I will go again when I come back to Waikiki.

“Good for a quick protein hit”

Grilled chicken and ribs were tasty. Pretty dirty sitting outside though but that's not their fault. Good for take away.

“Great hole-in-the-wall Korean restaurant.”
Reviewed February 21, 2013 via mobile

The food is delicious and authentic. The service is very friendly. It's a beloved little place that even Korean Air crews and ROK Air Force crews come to enjoy a hearty meal (evident by the numerous autographed drawings and notes of gratitude covering the walls adding to the hole-in-the-wall charm). Average price runs about $25-30/pp for a BBQ dish and sides, plus a beer. Not too bad for good Korean food in the heart of Waikiki.

“Good food, lousy service.”
Reviewed January 20, 2013

The young man who greeted us didn't know where to seat us, and our waitress, although nice, was a little unattentive. That being said, the food was out of this world.

“Good food, horrible service”
Reviewed December 31, 2012

We wanted some good Korean food so we checked out this website. We went there and were treated like they didn't want us there. We order several dishes including the Bulgogi. This is a dish of cooked strips of meat that you eat in a lettuce wrap. The dish came and we asked about the lettuce and she said it was another $5! We thought, what the..., this is a $22 dollar dish and you want to charge us another $5 for what is essentially 25 cents of lettuce. We told her that when were in Korea that the traditional way of eating this was with lettuce. We said there was no way we were going to pay for the lettuce. 2 minutes later she brought out some and said that it was included.

The food was good though.

We were ready to leave and our waitress was eating lunch at the back. We waved her over a couple of times. Finally we got our bill and after another 20 minutes of trying to get her attention we got up and put on our coats. She quickly got up from txting on her iPhone and helped us. The only other time I have received this bad service was from Whitney Lee from the Bachelor Canada.

We had asked for Tea. Normally you get a pot of tea. She brought us two small cups and that was it. The worst part is we got charged $3 each for this.

I don't know if it was because we were not originally from Korea but there was something about that place that was not inviting to "us".

I would stay away and try another place, so many other places to go for excellent service.
