Good food, selection and location make this place a must for dining out on your vacation. Whether it is steak, chicken or that famous Hawaaian seafood, they have it all.

We went there for the new year's eve with two friends visiting. We were very excited to spend such important night in this wonderful location, unfortunately we ended up very disappointed.

We booked a table for the second seating and we were informed that that night was on a fixed menu and the price (185$ per adult and 75$ per children) was including the access to the party by the banyan tree to celebrate the beginning of the new year. Deal.

We arrived at 9.30pm and we were quickly escorted to our table. Great location and great arrangements, we were really impressed. Unfortunately good feelings ended at that point. The service was terrible, the waiter was overwhelmed and clearly we were not his priority.

The dinner was composed of 5 courses, as said we arrived at 9.30pm but at 11.00pm we were, still, at the 3rd course and even hungry.
After a very polite invitation to speed up a little bit the service as we would have liked to enjoy the party before midnight, something seemed to move but was just an impression.
At 11.55pm we paid the bill and we joined the party, likely before the countdown. The party ended at 0.45, we basically missed the entire show and activities.

I'm disappointed mainly for three reasons:
1. Service. I've never seen anything like that, it would say underestimated personnel but just because I would not think about priorities.
2. Food. Too much in the average for that day.
3. Value. The $$$$ spent for the food are absoultely not worth it if you preclude the possibilty to join the party in a timely manner.

Good service, great location, good food- I have no complaint. I prefer having breakfast here when I can see the ocean and surfers.

Moana Surfrider is elegant and charming but Lunch at the Veranda is sadly underwhelming. Two Staff members (an older woman and mid-thirties gent) were friendly enough to us when we wanted to look at the Menu but the party behind us (young Japanese Ladies) were treated poorly and dismissively by the gentleman Host because they didn't speak great English. He loudly stated-very loudly-that he didn't speak Japanese and waved them off like houseflies. We were escorted away during this embarrassing and inappropriate little side show and promptly greeted by our Server and presented with Menus and a small complimentary cracker and dip starter (nice touch). We ordered two entrees and the Touristic favorite Mai Tai. I will preface this by I drink the aforementioned concoction for research only-and rate them up and down the beach...Surfriders are def at the bottom. Lunch itself looked pretty on the plate and our Server was attentive but the food was average if not a little below and oh no..the Restaurant itself not very clean.
Maybe Lunch isn't their focus but it wasn't very busy and there isn't much excuse for the lack of polish
as the Hotel Lobby and other public areas appear well maintained.
It's maddening that a little more love wasn't coming out of the Kitchen and also inexcusable to treat any Guest so dismissively especially a group that obviously wanted to dine here.
Perhaps they were the lucky ones after all since they moved on and we had the underwhelming drinks and meal.

This was the second time we had celebrated Thanksgiving dinner at the Moana and again we were not disappointed. Excellent food, great customer service. Beautiful setting outside near the beautiful old banyan tree.
