“A place of beauty and peace in the middle of the city”
Reviewed June 27, 2013

For only a $5 entry fee, you can stroll around and enjoy all the interesting plants, trees, and flowers or just sit peacefully on the many shaded benches around the gardens and listen to the birds sing. There are many very large and interesting exotic and native trees, a butterfly garden full of pretty flowers, an orchid house, and other beautiful plants. A very nice break from the city and a change of scenery from the beach.

“A bit of serenity in the heart of honolulu”
Reviewed June 12, 2013

Even surrounded by highways, this place is heavenly. Many botanical species, magnificent trees, and usually there are very few if any people there. The mosquitoes can be a problem, so I don't usually sit on the beckoning benches, just walk and enjoy.

“Serene walk through Paradise in the midst of busy downtown Honolulu”
Reviewed June 2, 2013

The price of admission is worth it, to see the lush tropical plants and tall trees that provide shade and oxygen. There are benches to stop and rest, and maybe bring a bento (lunch box) to enjoy during your leisurely stroll through the gardens. Be sure to visit the orchids in their hot house. The butterflies hover nearby the entrance to that place. if you like cattelya and dendrobiums, stop by to get a smell of those delicacies. Did you know that orchids had a sweet smell like no other?

“Meditative Fun”
Reviewed May 28, 2013

I loved the gardens, they have paths and places to sit along the path. The trees and plants were nice to look at, the flowers were amazing! The gardens are small and there is a small fee to enter, but I was there taking a class on lei making. They have lots of classes like growing vanilla and such. The gardens are bordered by the freeway, but I convinced myself that the sound of cars was a rushing river. LOL
