Amazing! stayed after the Shangri La tour. The gift shop was well stocked. The museum had Indian and Asian exhibits. Impressionists painters, which I was most interested in and had not seen these particulars works took my interest. Enough to come back to stare another day. Go.

“Top notch Museum”

They have a Hawaii art Deco show now with original paintings by Savage and Kelly and others from the 30's , who's art was used for the Lurline Steamship menu covers. They also have ancient works from Indonesia, China and Hawaii. Well worth seeing. It's on Ward and Beretania st.

“looking for quilts”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 28, 2014

I made a special trip to this museum just to see their collection of Hawaiian quilts, as I am a rabid quilter. However when I got there, I was very sad to find their textile section was closed for remodeling! A docent named Lynne took pity on me, and took me for a personal tour of every piece of needlework in the museum. It turned out that she was a textile specialist, and a fellow needlewoman, and I had a great time with her. So thanks, Lynne, and I did find the needlework shop (eventually)!

“A Nice Surprise”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 25, 2014

The Museum was the meeting place for the bus to Doris Duke's Shangri La. Our tickets included free entrance to the museum. It was a lovely way to spend an hour or two. Not crowded and a respite from all the crowds, pace and tourists that is Honolulu.

“Quite impressive”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 12, 2014

Had no intentions of visiting, but had an unexpected free afternoon. Enjoyed my visit- quite a broad spectrum of art represented in an interesting atmosphere- I've never had to open doors to enter rooms in a museum of art before. Roomy galleries. The Museum of Art is on the Waikiki Trolley Red Line.
