Saw the Ansel Adams / Georgia O'Keefe exhibit as well as the regular collection. Definitely worth a visit when in Honolulu.

Enjoyed pouring Red Cap at the August Moon event. The local artists were so talented. The local restaurants that were paired with the wineries did a lovely job. I'd love to go back to spend more time to see the whole museum.

I live 2 blocks away from the Smithsonian museums in DC, so I am accustomed to top-notch offerings. I didn't expect much from the Honolulu museum and stopped by because they were having a Georgia O'Keefe exhibit of her Hawaii paintings, which inspired my visit to Maui the week before. Was very pleasantly surprised by the breadth of the permanent collection. Gauguin, Monet, Cassatt, Eakins, Alice Neal, and more that I didn't have time to see .... plus a wonderfully staged exhibit of samurai weapons and armor, and an eclectic contemporary art exhibit. A large area devoted to Asian art. A huge disappointment for me was missing the crown jewel: a visit to Shangri La - only open Wed to Sat alas-- but go if you can. it is a personalized tour of heiress Doris Duke's stunning home and homage to Islamic art that is an exclusive offering of the museum.

Had a fabulous docent tour followed by tea and cookies - and a chance to interact with both the docent and my fellow tour goers on a more personal level - how nice!

This museum has great collections, and visiting there is like time travel of art. Great gift shop. The exhibition of O'keeffe and Adams is splendid. I had no idea Adams did portraits!

The Honolulu Museum of Art is a smaller Art Museum, but has some very interesting pieces I didn't expect to see. Many well known artists are represented, and the special exhibit on tattoos was fascinating. The courtyards are a beautiful place to sit and relax.
