This is a very small museum, but they have just a little bit of everything, French surrealists, Ancien Egypt, Rome, Italian renaissance! Every last friday of the month, they have Art after Dark, the museum is open till 10 and they have concerts and drinks in the patio. Dress up!

There were a lot of exhibits to see at the HAA. I never could find the parking garage that was listed on the website, but was able to park on the street for free since it was Sunday. Your entrance fee also includes the Spalding House. You need a car to drive there, but it is worth it. The Spalding House itself doesn't really have many sculptures to see, but the view of Diamond Head and Waikiki from the back lawn is worth the short drive!

This is one of my favorite little museums. In addition to permanent collections, its special exhibits are nearly always very interesting showings of Hawaiian contemporary art. The architecture is in the manner of older Hawaiian buildings, and is cool and relaxing even during hot weather.

This historic building is pretty unassuming considering the masterpieces within. We are particular fans of post-Renaissance art and this museum has a little bit of everything - including works by Modigliani, Cezanne, Monet, and many more. The galleries are beautifully lit and the works well-showcased, and as another reviewer noted, this museum really is an oasis in the hubbub of Honolulu.
