It is very close to Waikiki beach. Lots of different fish to see. My son loved it and wanted to go again.
Jelly fish tank an also shark tank are amazing. Especially if you have kids, it is very entertaining and informative for them. Small but nice place.

The Waikiki Aquarium is a closer, smaller and cheaper venue for a family with a toddler or an infant in a stroller to visit than Sea Life Park. As soon as you enter you can have your photo taken and view before you leave if you would like to purchase a souvenir pic of your visit in Hawaii. The indoor corridors are dimly lit to highlight the various sea creatures in displays like sea horses, eels, jelly fish, and the clown fish kids recognize as Nemo. Outside they have a small touchy freely station with a hermit crab, etc. There were only 2 tired sea lions in the outdoor pool. There is also a small self-run movie type room if you need to sit in some air condition and perhaps catch a few winks or nurse your infant. It's a nice place to visit on a quiet afternoon but if you like more activity, the zoo, Waikiki Beach or Kapiolani Park are all close by.

While small by comparison to other aquariums (seriously, try to get to Osaka Aquarium in your lifetime - incredible), Waikiki Aquarium is entertaining and a fun way to spend an hour or two. All on one level and located by the beach at the Diamond Head end of Waikiki, the beautiful array of fish will have you exhausting your camera battery. Nemo, Dory and all their friends will entertain the kids while rarer sights will interest adults, including the coral, jellyfish, rays and smaller sharks. Tanks are both indoors and outdoors, and a few seals feature in outdoor pools. Gift shop is average and probably needs a rethink.

On our last full day in HI we walked to the Aquarium which was 1.25 miles from the Waikiki Marriott Courtyard. Good thing admission is only $9, since we strolled through the entire aquarium in an hour. Worth a visit if you are looking for something to do, but don't expect too much and don't go out of your way to visit the aquarium.

We were really disappointed because we thought it was a restaurant and wanted some good fish and chips, found out that there was only sushi, and we had to catch it ourselves. Boy were they mad when we started to cut up the fish on the floor, some of the children were crying, too! JUST KIDDING!!! Once you are inside it is hard to believe that this is located on the same street, Kalakaua, as 50 ABC stores, Louis Vuitton, and numerous high end shopping centers and stores. Quaint and educational, this aquarium is a good place you can spend a couple of hours. We loved the jellyfish on exhibit, and the sea lion demonstrations. (not really a show, they are not trained to do tricks) A good variety of fish, both the bright tropical reef fish and the big deep water goupers and sharks. I was very sorry that we could not find the humuhumunukunukuapua'a, the Hawaiian state fish, that has a name bigger than the fish. Maybe it was hiding that day, but we did see it from the rock jetties into the water in front of the Aquarium. We would like to return the next time. It was easy this time as we got entrance passes from Waikiki Trolley with a 7 day pass. It would be easy to do the Zoo and the Aquarium on the same day, if you started at opening time, 9:00 AM. Parking would definately be a problem if you need to be within 50 feet of your car at all times. The public parking around Kapiolani Park gets very tight after 8 am, so if you sleep late and decide to cruise up at 10, you won't find any parking near the beach or the aquarium. Park and walk or take the bus or a trolley. Don't criticize Paradise because you cannot get your internal combustion engine close enough to suit your phobias.
