OMG! If you want to taste some of the freshest farm raised need and mahi mahi- please go to the pineapple room! It was absolutely awesome. I enjoyed the mahi mahi fish sandwich and the pineapple burger with onion rings on top(we split our meals) the serving sizes were huge and the flavor a were beyond spectacular.

We made dinner reservations for a birthday event with our family. Our dinner menu was personalized with a happy birthday message with all of the employees signatures signed on the personalized menu page. Very nice touch. The staff was very courteous and the atmosphere was very nice. Two of us ordered the misoyaki butterfish. Although it was very tasty, the miso taste was a bit too strong. Perhaps the next time I will try another dish. The service was a bit slow, but perhaps it was because they were busy. I like the atmosphere at the Pineapple Room, thus I make reservations there every now and then. If your intention is to eat and run, it might not be an ideal place for you. However, if you have a lot of time and like to sit and chat while waiting for your dishes, this would be a great place to break bread. Since we were celebrating a birthday, they presented the birthday celebrant with a complimentary dessert with "happy birthday" greetings on the plate. A very endearing touch.

The Pineapple Room is located on the 3rd floor of Macy's in the Ala Moana centre. Apparently Alan Wong’s fine dining restaurant won the award for 12 years in a row and he was asked to stop participating to let others have a chance at winning.

Since it came highly recommended, we tried the prix fixe menu which had 4 courses for about $40. By the 3rd course, we could not eat anymore (the portions are quite big). We had to take away the dessert (well I was not leaving it behind). The service was really attentive but not too intrusive. It was a bit awkward when you see the wait staff better dressed than some guests who turned up in flip flops and shorts.

After extensive shopping spree in Ala Moana shopping centre, and you're craving for a good feed, don't pass up the chance to go to The Pineapple Room in Macy's dept. store. You get great service with lots of smile (the Aloha way!) and delicious food (modern Hawaiian food - think Western / Japanese fusion food). Prices & portion size reasonable.

It seemed a bit strange to find such a nice restaurant in Macy's - we went in to have some lunch because it was recommended to us. We werent disappointed it was very nice, staff were attentive. But I still have to say - we were in Macy's - I am not used to going to a nice restaurant right after buying a shirt and 2 pairs of undies; I think it should have been external to Macy's - it would have felt better.
