It's a budget hotel people! Don't expect a Jacuzzi with room service with steak and lobster! Stop grumbling. The room was old fashioned but comfortable. Kudos to the staff, they are all nice. I like the water cooler in the lobby, a nice touch. Location is great: walking distances to the zoo, aquarium, shops and restaurants around every corner. Of course it's close to Waikiki/Kuhio Beach. Elevator slow though. A room away from the elevator, thank goodness. Also got free upgrade from moderate to kitchenette studio. Fabulous! I will return soon! A satisfied tourist!

Room Tip: Like the rest, get a room away from the elevator.

Front desk employees were all very helpful and friendly. Great price for the location. Walking distance to everything. Rooms are not as new as other more expensive hotels may be, however they are clean. For the amount of time we spent in our room, it was perfect. A clean, quiet place to get some sleep.

We stayed at the Ewa for 4 nights and it is a good budget alternative to being at Waikiki. If you are planning to be out most of the time then it would be a good pick. It is very dated, the bathrooms are passable, but the bedding is clean and comfortable and the room is well made up each day. The front desk staff knew absolutely nothing about the local area so you would need to be confident at working things out yourself. We asked 3 different staff for advice about pretty basic things over the days we were there and not once did they have a clue. Also, the air conditioners in the rooms make no difference, we slept with the sliding doors to the balcony open at night so it might pay to get a room on the 5,6th or 7th floors.

The unique thing about this hotel is that they can guarantee adjoining rooms for larger families. Due to fire regulations you can only have 4 people in a room, and we were a family of 5 and it was a real pain finding somewhere that would do more than 'try' to have an adjoining room.

Also, consider getting a ticket for the red 'Aloha Bus' that roams the local area. We found it quicker than taking the pink line and good value for money as the pass is for 48 hours. Bus attendants were friendly and helpful where the hotel staff had not been.

Aloha 13Kripy,

I am truly surprised to hear that the staff were not able to help you with any of the local area. Majority of them have been with the hotel or working in Waikiki for years and will definitely look into this more closely. If you are able, please email me directly at jbatara@aquaresorts.com and let me know what you were asking the front desk clerks so I can help determine the course of training for them.

Nothing Fancy about it at all but well worth the money for what your paying. Its located in a great safe area. I stayed there for 11 days. Room was very clean with no bugs. Had a nice little balcony. ABC store where you can get anything you need right around the corner. Only things that they need are a faster elevator and maybe a fan in the bathroom. Other then that we had a great time and would stay there again!

After reading all of these negative reviews I have to admit I was a bit concerned. When I walked in today the front desk guy was super nice and professional. The hotel smells great( unlike that dump in Daytona last year). My room is clean and there is A/C. Great! Super happy. Mahalo ! Mark-room 407.

The Ewa Hotel is fine as a budget hotel. My room was clean and comfortable and was perfect for the price I paid. The few issues I had: 1. There was a large gap between the floor and the door allowing noise from the outside hall to easily enter. Door seals aren't that expensive and would be a nice addition to allow for more privacy and noise reduction. 2. The only lock was a dead bolt. Again it would be nice to have more then one lock to ensure security. 3. The people at the front desk were very nice and helpful but couldn't offer me any advice on how to get to Pearl Harbor without a car, which I thought I was bizarre for a hotel in the middle of Waikiki. However, I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a comfortable and affordable stay in Waikiki and who is fine with not staying in one of the higher end resort hotels.

Aloha Caylen2005,

Mahalo for your review here at TripAdvisor. We are currently in the process of refreshing our rooms and with that being said, we are actively pursuing a solution for the gaps between the door and the floor and changing out the deadbolt. Also, I also found your comment about not getting the information on how to go to Pearl Harbor without a car concerning and will definitely re-train the staff when I address them during our next staff meeting. But aside from these, I am glad that you were able to enjoy your stay with us.

Should your travels bring you back to Hawaii, hopefully you'll stay with us again.
