“Wonderful Stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 25, 2004

Stayed there from 7/9/04-7/13/04 prior to hopping over to Maui. We booked our trip many months ago and were leery of staying at this hotel due to the bad reviews here, but the location was where we wanted to be in Waikiki. Am I ever glad we stayed there! They recently completed a major renovation in April (?), and the hotel was terrific. Freshly painted, new carpets, updated furniture in the rooms, etc. We booked a non-oceanview room (why pay extra when the ocean is right outside the back door of the hotel), and although it was only on the first floor of rooms, we still had a nice partial view of the ocean. The room was clean, neat, well furnished, had great closet and drawer space, and was better than we had expected. The lobby and other areas of the hotel were just as nice, and all of the staff was very helpful and extremely accomodating. On top of all that, the hotel sits right on of Waikiki beach and is within walking distance of all the shopping and eating places along the boulevard...what more could you ask for? We would definitely stay there again!

Great location. Very friendly staff. Beach is great and with the International Market Place just across the street, shopping is very convenient.

As with many other reviewers, my only comment is on the noise that travels from room to room. If you happen to get a room with an adjoining pass through door (to another room), the noise is irritating. You would swear that the other guest were in your room at times.

The elevators can be quite slow and packed at times. It was sometimes faster to take the emergency stairwell.

If you want to eat at Duke's, you better get there early.

Aloha

Wonderful doesn't touch it. Stayed from 7/10 to 7/14 and fell in love with the entire facility, its amenities, its proximity to the action in Waikiki and most of all, the BEACH. Diamond head to the left, the Pacific before you and the legendary hotels all around - fabulous - courteous staff, gorgeous views and room - felt like Royalty and we will go back!!!

I was all set to rate this Hotel a 5 but now I give it a 3. I made my reservations 8 months in advance and they could not fill my request for a oceanfront room on the upper floors. If you are on the lower floors, you have all of the outside noise. I stayed there before and was looking forward to going back. We were on the 4th floor and it took them 1/2 of the next day to get the room on the upper floor ready. The best thing about the place is the ocean view and the location. You can walk almost anywhere you want to go.
Honeymooners beware, the walls are paper thin.
I just may have to give them another chance and stay there again.

Just got bck from 10 day stay 7/1 - 7/10 at the OUtrigger Waikiki. Diddo on all thte positive comments as well as the comments regarding the thin walls. PAPER thin!!! That was my only complaint. Neighbors were up at 6am, consequently so was I! Bring ear plugs. The rest of the hotel is great. Beach is VERY crowded. Rent a car and drive to the North Shore. I'm from HI and don't care for the Waikiki beaches. The island is Awesome though. Have fun.

this is it......look no further...if you like location and action all around....make your reservation now!!!...this is a great, hopping "beach hotel"....friendly staff bow down to all guests...very comfortable and relaxing atmosphere and try the "lava flow" tropical drink...duke's canoe club is top notch offering a buffet breakfast in the morning, lobster tail and tropical drinks at night with music...live concerts at duke's on the weekends...lots of fun....even my 15 and 16 year olds had a good time with the int'nl market place right across the street....if you want quiet and secluded go to hilton village..(to stuffy for me)..or come here and kick off your shoes...would definitely stay here again...rooms are comfy (walls are not thin) with good veiws of the ocean...the pool is just steps away from the ocean...great choice either way.... seven days went too fast.....aloha

The Outrigger Waikiki is in a great location, literally go out the back onto the beach. And what a beautiful ocean view. We were upgraded (for no charge) to a "partial" ocean view on the second floor. It was amazing, the way the bed was facing you were looking directly out to the ocean and beach. What a beautiful thing to wake up to. It was about a 90% view of the ocean, blocked only by another hotel room in the right hand side of the lanai. The room was exceptionally clean, great housekeeping, bellman and staff were all very friendly and definately embodied the "Aloha" spirit. Highly recommend. Would stay there again. We loved this hotel and had no complaints---well, maybe that we couldn't stay longer.
