“First trip to Hawaii”
Reviewed November 3, 2013

We stayed on the 14th level (we asked for a higher level after reading about their elevator system, but they had installed new lifts which were great, apparently, the lift rides were a bit slow in the past, but you swipe your room key at the lift & are directed to the next lift for your floor very speedily.
We had a partial ocean view room (1431) which was right across from one of the lift wells. Other family members were in room 1434 which was a bit bigger & had a slightly better view.
The room was very comfortable & clean, we had use of a fridge which was great, because we purchased breakfast & snack items from one of the many ABC stores; there was also a room safe, the bathroom was quite roomy; they provided toiletries, hair dryer & iron. Also had coffee making facilities which was great. Although we didn't have a full view of the ocean, it was really nice sitting on the balcony, having a cold drink & looking out at the view.
The hotel is in a great central location. Loved Duke's restaurant downstairs (we ate from the bar menu as we preferred to dine outsider closer to the beach for the atmosphere).
The hotel has a laundry in the walkway down to the pool which is great so you aren't cooped up in a room; you can put a load of washing on and go and have a swim while you wait. Some pranksters put tissue in some of the machines, so one of my loads was covered in tissue, which I wasn't impressed with.
There was a sandwich shop downstairs near the laundry (i think it was called Pai's); they had a great selection, reasonably priced, great service & delicious.
There was also a coffee shop at the front of the hotel called Seattle's Best, which was very convenient.
The staff are all very pleasant & helpful. We had a late pickup for a cruise & were able to leave our luggage with the hotel.
The sun beds at the front of the pool area on the beach are a great spot to watch the sunset.
Would stay here again without hesitation.

Room Tip: You don't spend an awful lot of time in the rooms, so if you can save by not having an ocean vie...

Aloha Cathannt. Thank you for staying at the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach during your first trip to Hawai`i. It is wonderful to read positive comments about our newly upgraded elevator system. We installed the new lift system during our recent renovation and it offers guests more security as well as shorter waits. We are glad you and your family had an enjoyable stay with us. Please come back soon for another great visit. Mahalo Nui Loa.

Love the location of this hotel. You don't have to go very far for anything... Duke's restaurant downstairs and the beach so close. Loved getting a cabana all day and then just walking back to my room in no time at all. Rooms are not large but clean. Maid were always very nice and I enjoyed talking to them. All services were top notch and the whole family agreed we're staying here again! All restaurants are very busy and popular so you need to go early or accept you're going to wait for awhile.

Aloha Connie B. Thank you for spending your family vacation at the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach. Our centralized location allows our guests the best access to all the shopping, dining and entertainment options in Waikiki. Guests do not even need to leave the hotel to enjoy a relaxed and fun-filled Hawaiian vacation. We feature three of Oahu's most popular restaurants serving island-inspired cuisine in an oceanfront setting. The best section of Waikiki beach is at our doorstep, perfect for sun-bathing, swimming, surfing and canoe-riding. There is even a full-service spa on our rooftop for guests to enjoy a massage, manicure or facial during their stay. We are so happy to hear your whole family has agreed to stay here again. We will look forward to welcoming all of you back. Mahalo Nui Loa.

Stayed here whilst working with the USN at Pearl Harbour (US spelling Harbor), service, location, rooms were all excellent.
Step out onto the beach or into the tourist district, what a location.
Would love to go back, but would dread the 15-17 hour flight although you do change in L.A. or San Francisco.

Our first hotel in Honululu. A bit outdated in most areas. Bed was not full queen size so felt a bit squished. Pool was good size and easy walk straight onto the beach. Had buffet at Dukes for breakfast, not that great and looked 'cheap'. Small deli shop is really good, great sandwiches, friendly service. One big thing that really got me offside is that there is not free Internet in the lobby computers. You can only print a boarding pass for free and that is it. You then have to pay to use the Internet. For the service this place proclaims this should be free for hotel guests, yes wifi in rooms is free but if you need an actual computer to print an email or something having to pay is a bit much. Much prefer Moana Surfrider next door.

Aloha Andrea H. Thank you for choosing the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach as your first hotel in Honolulu. We are proud to offer free wireless Internet service to our hotel guests without charging a nightly resort fee, as many Waikiki hotels currently do. For guests who wish to print documents from a computer, there is a 24-hour business center located in our upper lobby where they can use a computer and printer for a very low price. Mahalo Nui Loa for taking the time to post your feedback.

The hotel is located right in the central of the tourists area and it is a heach front hotel. one step out the hotel there will be the blue ocean and white sand. There is Duke's which serves fresh grilled fish and yummy burgers with live music. Only thing is the decor inside is very very outdated..

Aloha mrsglobal88. Thank you for choosing the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach. We are very proud to be located centrally in Waikiki and directly on the beach. Our property has a lively vibe due to popular restaurants like Duke's Waikiki, the Society of Seven showroom and a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere throughout the hotel's public areas. Mahalo Nui Loa.

Perfect location for beach, shopping, eating etc.
Staff are very helpful and friendly, beach location is amazing! We chose breakfast instead of an ocean view and we ended up with a partial ocean view anyway!
Very happy and will stay no where else when I go back to Hawaii!

Good: we choose a moderate price room. The room turned out to be spacious and nicely appointed. It appezred that the room was recently updated. Housekeeping did a good job, and the staff for the most part, was extremely helpful. I say this because we had one bell person who was a bit surley but otherwise good attitudes from everyone else. The location was great...near restaurants, shopping and the beach.

The not so good: price was a bit high.

Room Tip: They will offer a room to freshen up if you need one after checking out. This was a real plus to cle...
