“A Perfect Memory!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 21, 2013

We carefully selected this Outrigger property to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary, and we were delighted we did! We found the hotel staff very gracious and we loved the location...beachfront in the heart of Waikiki. Our Deluxe Ocean View room was lovely, spacious, very clean and the view was exactly as stated. Due to a change in our plans, it was necessary to extended our stay. Although our room was already booked for an incoming guest, another Deluxe Ocean View room was made available to us. The staff took care of all the arrangements, making the relocation from room to room seamless. Our meals at the hotels Hula Grill and Duke's Restaurant were all excellent! One of our most memorable times at the Outrigger will always be our Wedding Vow Renewal Ceremony on the beach! Thank you Ethan, Kawena and Boyana for the vital roles you played in making this a wonderful memory and celebration! We look forward to returning to the Outrigger in the future and would definitely recommend it to our friends.

Room Tip: The Outriggers site has a valuable color coded drawing of room locations which was very helpful in...

Couldnt find anywhere to just post about the spa, so this rating is for the spa only.

Went here for a couples massage, they thought we were a different couple and took us in and gave us the wrong massages. How can you make a mistake like that? They didn't confirm with us before hand what we had each booked and were really rude afterwards even though it was their mistake.

I travelled with my mum and sister and we have all been to Hawaii many times. We put in a great deal of research to find the most ideal hotel to stay in. We were really excited to stay there but we left a little disappointed. Upon arrival, there was no assistance from the bell boys. They just stood there and watched us struggle with out bags. Don't get me wrong, I'm no weeping flower, I can manage but my 70 year old mum can't and I struggled with all the bags. Once I got up the elevator to the lobby they wanted to assist me. Yeah, good one! The room was nice and clean, great location and the hotel had everything we needed. We decided to sleep off the jet lag by laying by the pool but were disturbed constantly but the bar staff wanting to sell us drinks. My tip is, don't buy a drink and they will leave you alone. Once you buy a drink your stuffed and they keep bothering you. Three weeks after our stay we returned to Hawaii and stayed acrid the road at the beachcomber, that hotel was half the price and just as good.

Room Tip: We had a partial ocean view room and that is exactly what we got. It's nice but for the money th...

The Outrigger Waikiki is a great hotel, right on the beach, in the center of the Waikiki activity. The room as large and well appointed, the shower was a little weak, but the bathroom was clean. We were only there for one night, and that's more than enough to get a feel for Waikiki, then get out of there.

I actually would like to rate the hotel 3.5, but am not able to, so I'll give it a 4. The Outrigger Waikiki is in a perfect location if you want to experience all that Waikiki has to offer. We only stayed two nights on a stopover to the Big Island, but it was an enjoyable stay. We stayed in a partial ocean view room on the 15th floor and when you stepped out onto the balcony we had a great view of the mountains and skyline if you looked right and a view of the beach and ocean if you looked left. Unfortunately we were on the "Cheesecake Factory side" and the large air conditioners below made it too loud to sit out on the balcony and enjoy the views. Balcony was also very small. This was fine as we were only there for two and a half days and spent very little time in the room, plus Waikiki Beach is where you should be hanging out. :) The room was small, but had everything two people could need and it was very comfortable (only drawback was the quality of the pillows - uncomfortable). Other people have complained about the elevators, but we didn't have any problems while we were there.
Pros:
Location (in the heart of Waikiki Beach, within walking distance to everything)
Clean (room and all of the public areas were very clean)
Restaurants (great places to eat on site and nearby)
Cons:
Balcony/Lani Size - very small, noisy
Staff - Check in was courteous, but not very friendly, didn't seem to enjoy their jobs. We were given absolutely no information about the hotel, we had to spend half of our day figuring out where things were and how things worked. A 5-10 minute orientation would have gone a long way. Also would have loved to know about the cultural activities offered, I guess they were posted by some of the elevators, not all.
We would probably choose the Outrigger again purely on the location and the fact that they do not charge a resort fee.

Room Tip: If you eat breakfast at the Hula Grill and bring your receipt back the following day you get free pi...

Spent 8 nights here, for spring break. We had been to Maui a couple of times and wanted to try a different Hawaiian experience, one with more of the city vibe. This hotel is right in the heart of all of the action of Honolulu, just a few blocks to countless shops (everything from Billabong casual to Chanel and LV upscale) and any restaurant you can think of. It was a pleasant 7 block walk down the beach to the Honolulu zoo and a short taxi ride to other attractions.

We stayed in an oceanfront room on the second floor. HUGE balcony (bigger than the floors higher up), we had a table and chairs, a surfboard, bags of beach toys, etc., out there and still plenty of room for the kids to move run around and play! Our room was right above Dukes patio and we opened the sliding doors and could enjoy a full ocean view and live music every afternoon. Heaven.

Beds were comfy, kids even raved about the pull out sofa bed! Housekeeping was wonderful, our room was always a wreck and they took great care of us, noticing things we were using and leaving us extras. Fridge was big, lots of room to store basic groceries so no need to rush out for breakfast in the morning.

Free cultural activities offered in the hotel lobby were wonderful! Fun and educational for the entire family. Every person we came in contact with was so happy... How could they not be in this paradise??

Only complaint would be the noise at night, but wasn't unexpected due to location of room in such a central/social area.

Room Tip: Oceanfront worth every penny. Our Second floor balcony looked to be MUCH bigger than those on higher...
