There aren't enough words to describe how wonderful the Outrigger Waikiki is! The room was spotless, the view was spectacular, the food was excellent; an overall amazing experience. The customer's needs are the staff's main priorities and it is apparent that they enjoy their jobs and are appreciative of you staying at their establishment. We have stayed their numerous times before and each and every visit has been fabulous and we can't wait to return each time. We are from the Midwest and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone - they have the friendly, helpful demeanor that contributes to the overall satisfaction to each and every guest. There are numerous guests that return each year and it's easy to see why - Hospitality at its finest!! Dawn P.

Serving as an entrance to the famous Dukes, as well as containing the escalator up to the Outrigger Waikiki Beach hotel lobby, the street level appears to have the same tired collection of tourist shops of decades ago. The lobby itself seems dated and underwhelming. Yet an exit onto any of the hotel floors is an entry into a modern, warm, luxurious world.

Entry to the rooms is via an ultramodern magnetic code placed on a small plastic card. This is waved in front of a saucer shaped disc on the room door, unlocking the door. The rooms are of good size, and are wonders of architecture, with rounded corners, clever angles and excellent color choices.

There is of course a modern flat screen TV, digital thermostat controlling quiet air conditioning, an ample, well lit bathroom with a real bath, and at last, an LED night light. A generous closet with good space for two open suitcases is supplied. A mini fridge and safe are included. Toiletries of reasonable quality are supplied, although these do not come up to the mark set by the Sheraton, among others. The only real deficit in the bathroom area is the absence of a safety grab bar in the bath/shower wall.

The bed - in our case a king - is of high quality and there are plenty of excellent pillows. The balcony is cramped but does manage to contain a small table and two extremely comfortable sling chairs. Our room was reasonably quiet, especially after Duke's bar closes down. Shutting the patio doors and turning on the air seems to control almost all noise pollution, should it occur.

View management and pricing is a major issue in Waikiki, and all hotels have complex layers of both. The Outrigger's is simpler than some, offering rooms with city view, partial ocean, ocean, deluxe ocean and ocean front. Our take on this is that the elevator shaft, which bisects the tower, divides the better views ocean side from the others. These better rooms start with the number 17 and run up to the ocean front rooms. Another dividing point would be the floor height. We had an 'ocean view' category room on the 8th floor, on the East side of the tower, and had the first room on the 'good' side of the elevators. The view of the beach was restricted horizontally, but attractive, focusing on the arrival and departure of the tourist catamarans. The horizontal beach view was interrupted by the hotel tower itself, and on the other side by the Moana Surfrider hotel tower directly East. The higher your hotel floor, and the higher your room number, the better your view.

There is a passable pool on the beach, bookable beach chairs, and a rare laundromat.

The staff of the Outrigger were mostly warm, and universally helpful. Although the hotel has an awkward physical structure, with the bell desk in the main entrance and the lobby a floor up, the place somehow works very smoothly.

Although Dukes bar and grill on the street floor, and the Hula Grill and Chuck's Steak House on the lobby floor are a leased business, they deliver a quality product worthy of the hotel, and exceptional convenience for hotel guests.

The Outrigger Wikiki Beach is right next to the Cheesecake Factory, and a stone's throw from dozens of other restaurants. The Moana Surfrider hotel is on one side, with the Royal Hawaiian and Sheraton on the other. So location couldn't be better.

We are familiar with the Sheraton Waikiki and the large Marriott complex down the street, and the Outrigger wins hands down as an overall experience.

Room Tip: Get the highest floor and the biggest room number - 17 or higher - on the floor you can afford, as t...

I have stayed at the outrigger waikiki many times. I would say its one of my favorite hotels at any price anywhere. The location of the hotel is fabulous ! This applies to the beach and restaurant, dinning and shopping.

Dukes Restuarant located in the hotel has one of the best views while dining anywhere in Waikiki. The breakfast buffet is one of the best I have ever had. I think the outrigger is great for families, it is very convenient as the beach is literaly a stones throw from the hotel.

I can't wait to go back!

Aloha BIGDAVEY1, we are happy that you have enjoyed your stay with us. In addition to being a beachfront property, we are situated in the the heart of Waikiki. You will find many different stores and restaurants in walking distance. Dukes is a busy restaurant offering a wide variety of food for their breakfast buffet. We hope to welcome you back in the near future while visiting the island.

Four nights here and the living is easy! We had an oceanfront room which was looked beautifully out on the beach; it also sat directly above a very loud (and occasionally annoying) Duke's. despite that, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Be forewarned, however: if you want a spot on the beach you may need to rent chairs and an umbrella for the day for $60.00.

Room Tip: Ask for an upper oceanfront room.

Just finishing up 8 days in Waikiki. This was definitely the spot to be. Right on the beach and in the heart of all the pro-bowl festivities! Beyond that Outrigger just finished completely renovating the hotel recently so everything is pretty shiny and nice. The staff have been tremendous! The icing on the cake is the hotel is home to some of the best restaurants and hang-outs in the area.
Hula Grill is great food and Duke's... well Duke's is the place to be and everyone knows it and has decent food as well. Highly recommend and do heed the advice. If you are street side get a room from 10 - 16th floors but I'm from NYC so the noise is normal for me.

Room Tip: If you are street side get a room from 10 - 16th floors - I was in 1110 and noise was minimal and oh...

The staff were friendly, the rooms very clean, the view from our room was fantastic, but the wait for the elevators happened every time. Didn't matter what time of day and during prime times often two or three full elevators would go by before you could get on.

Before booking a room at the Outrigger, I checked the reviews and overall felt really good about booking a room. We just came back and "THANK GOD" for the reviews as all feedback was true! We had an amazing time at the Outrigger. We were able to get a room with partial ocean (RM 816) which felt like a ocean front view to us. Every morning and evening it was great to relax and see the beach actiivities, whales and dolphins from a far and awesome tradewinds. We rented surfboards from KOA (great rates and service) and were able to put them in lockers available to us at the hotel. To top it off, we all agree that you should take your family to the Hula Grill for Breakfast. Front Beach view and fantastic service and food. The food was reasonable price and worth every penny. Better then going to Dukes for Breakfast buffet. Gotta try their pancakes with Bananas and Coconut and Macadamia nut whip cream and pineapples. Totally recommend and will go back!!!

Room Tip: Gotta have RM 816- Partial Ocean Front price- Ocean view
