Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort

Certificate of Excellence

As an extremely critical journalist, I often find it impossible to choose hotels, which don't irritate me in some manner. The outrigger on the beach however, is one of few exceptions.

This hotel truly is paradise. You are welcomed by a relaxed island feel in the lobby, which is accompanied by the newly renovated pool area. But if the beach is your scene, no worries - the hotel is situated right on it.

The staff of the hotel could not be friendlier. As returning guests, we were greeted with a gift bag and a letter of greetings from the manager. And despite the fact that we had checked in at an ungodly hour, the late night staff were still extremely cheerful and welcoming.

In addition, the hotel is extremely personal, welcoming guests and announcing birthdays in its daily newsletter.

The outrigger's restaurants are delicious and diverse. As a health enthusiast, I was very pleased to see the range of healthy breakfast, lunch and dinner options at 'Dukes', as well as the small cafe and convenience store located next to the pool.

The location of the hotel is exceptional, being next door to the cheesecake factory, across the road from the International markets, and surrounded by an array of other shops.

But best of all, the newly renovated rooms of the outrigger are unable to be rivalled. They are spacious, clean, classy and full of Hawaiian character. I would especially recommend the 16th floor ocean view.

All in all, this hotel truly meets all of my mother and I's highly exceptional standards, and we would never stay anywhere else.

Aloha from Hawaii. As a resident of Maui I like to visit the neighbor islands at least once a year. This month I have visited both the islands of Kauai and Oahu.

Last weekend I stayed at the Outrigger Waikiki. I love this property. You have everything you need in one place. Great ocean views, Dukes, Hula Grill, a spot right on Waikiki Beach.

I found the staff very friendly. The rooms are clean, and big. I had a beautiful ocean front view on the 16th floor. You could see the surfers and canoes right in front of the hotel.

One of the many things I love about this property is the free local and long distance calls to the US and Canada. They also have free internet, and a small business center in the lobby where you can print your boarding pass.

I ate at both Dukes and Hula Grill on this trip. Both were really good. I had breakfast at both places (including the buffet at Dukes) and also dinner at Dukes. The food was good and reasonable.

If you are on your honeymoon and considering this property splurge and get an ocean view or ocean front room or suite. You will remember it for the rest of your life!

Marie Glodt

Room Tip: Go for the ocean view. I liked being on a higher floor.

We had a 3 night stopover here on the way from Australia to Canada, and had never been to Hawaii before. Australia has beautiful beaches everywhere so we weren't sure how it would compare, but were defintely impressed with Waikiki and in particular the Hotel's convenient location right on the beach. From our balcony we had a great view of all the beach activities as well as sea turtles cruising the coral reefs close to shore. On arrival our room wasn't ready so we went exploring as suggested, and it was available when we returned an hour later. We found all hotel restaurants to be convenient and good value, with hotel staff genuinely friendly and helpful, not just fishing for tips. We booked several tours recommended by the concierge desk and all were good. This is also obviously a popular destination for people who like department and designer-brand stores, markets and junky souvenir shops, unlike us. We found the Outrigger to be a good base for discovering this beautiful island and to get to know the locals. Would definitely recommend and stay here again.

Room Tip: Ocean view rooms are the best.

On our return to Canada from Australia we stayed at the Ourigger for 5 days. Great location. Fabulous beach. Concierge was helpful in booking tours and restaurants. Staff were very friendly and helpful with the exception of the clerk at reception upon our arrival at 8:00a.m. after an all night flight from Sydney. When we asked if there was a room ready for us, he proceeded to lecture us on the "fairness" of the check-in system". Fortunately,we never saw this gentleman again. When we returned to the desk at noon to see if there was a room ready for us, a kind clerk happily accomodated us and found us a room. Otherwise, we had a wonderful stay. We would recommend this hotel.

Outrigger Waikiki on the beach is in a prime location and is beautiful. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and sleep 4. There are honeymoon rooms available also and we were pleased to be able to get a peak at these for future ventures. The newly renovated pool is fantastic and the boutique shops in the foyer are reasonably priced. A short stroll and you are in the market or in one of many family friendly restaurants. Bus or half hour walk to Ala Moana shopping centre for a fabulous shopping experience. I just love everything about Oahu and the Outrigger is central to everything. Concierge is very helpful with tour bookings and making your holiday a special one.

Room Tip: All rooms have a view from the balcony.

Stayed at The Outrigger Waikiki for 10nights in a 1 Bedroom Ocean Front. We checked in at 10.30am and our room was ready and what a view. We had a renovated room which had 2 balconies, bedroom and lounge room. The pool was excellent and there was always chairs available no chair hogs the pool guys took care of them. We ate in Hula Grill, Dukes and Chucks Steakhouse all were good and staff excellent. The Outrigger has the best location on the beach. I have stayed at several Waikiki Hotels and the Outrigger has been the best so far. Also no resort fees which makes a big saving. From checking in to checking out all the staff were helpful and nothing was to much trouble. All those bad reports I don't know where they came from as I am very fussy and found nothing to complain about at the Outrigger and will be back to stay again soon.

If you like shopping, surfing and lots of noise this is the place. Music drifting up from the bars below make it difficult to unwind less sleep in your own room.Rooms were clean, comfortable bed and good sized bathroom our room had a ocean view which was relaxing. Major refurbishments are taking place on some lower levels.
