“Not worth!!”
Reviewed December 18, 2012

We just came back from this restaurant!! To start with there is no assigned parking for this restaurant..its only street side parking which is 5$. We ordered Veg briyani, raitha and lamp masala curry suppose to be chef's special dish. Veg briyani is full of potatoes to make it larger quantity i guess & raitha is sweet.... Lamb curry, lamb is a bit hard and curry has less salt and flavors... Over all 35$ +5$ for this food and parking is not worth it...

“great food for a reasonable price”
Reviewed December 13, 2012

as someone who works in India for lengthy periods, i found the dishes at taj mahal as good as anything Ive had in India. Really great palak, aloo gobu, and all dal dishes. The egg plant dishes were the best ever!

“OK if you are really craving India Food”
Reviewed September 15, 2012

Food was not exactly great but we were kind of suffering withdrawal symptoms for Indian food for a couple of Nights. This was our 2nd option after we decided not to wait 90 mins at Cafe Maharani. This restaurant seats about 32-35 and for some reason India is really popular cuisine in Honolulu. So be prepared to wait , specially if you are a group greater than 4. Also, serving size is rather large so order judiciously

“Excellent value for Indian food in Honolulu”
Reviewed July 30, 2012

Should've taken some pictures -- next time I will. Sorry about that.

Prices are very reasonable and this is possibly the most inexpensive Indian place around Honolulu.

We had a 54 dollar bill for an order of veggie pakoras for the appetizer, followed by a dinner of the eggplant-themed korma, chicken saag, and aloo ghobi, plus rice and garlic naan. It was all served in a reasonable time, with tons of flavor. Not super spicy, but the taste factor was right where it should be. It ranks as a slightly more inexpensive version of the other quality Indian restaurants around Honolulu, namely Maharani. No real downsides; parking is a little tight but manageable. Food is quality- the white breast meat in the chicken saag awesome; the dishes right on in every way. Portion size was reasonable.

Have been here a few times and will definitely return.

“Average Indian Restaurant”
Reviewed January 6, 2012

I visited this place during my recent visit to Honolulu in December. I will put up some pros and cons about this restaurant to help fellow readers.

1) Good Naan (Breads) in this restaurant.
2) Not too far from Waikiki area.
3) They customize the preparation according to you.

1) Terrible Parking space.
2) Did not like their chef specials or recommendations.
3) Very Southern Indian Food kind of feel. I prefer Northern Indian.

Dishes I tried : Butter Chicken (average) , Spicy Maharaja Chicken (bad). Chicken Biryani with rasins (Terrible). Masala Chai ( Average).

Overall , Plain Average.
