My wife and I had just a couple days on Oahu and the Circle Island Tour with Pearl Harbor was a great way to see a lot. Dennis was an entertaining guide and kept the day moving. There was a snafu with the buses that detracted from the tour early in the day, but overall I would recommend the tour and the company - especially if you want to learn a lot about Hawaii and see a lot of Oahu in just one day. Thanks Dennis!

My wife and I where on our Honeymoon and it was our first time to Hawaii. We decided to do the Circle Island Oahu Tour with Pearl Harbor. We had to meet at around 5:30 and had to pick other couples up at other hotels in Waikiki, which wasn't bad after going on the tour. We got to Pearl Harbor right before they opened and it was a good thing that we did! Our tour guide was Greg, he was the funniest guy I have ever met. He took us to places the tourist rarely see which was very cool, we even went to a beach where they filmed the Corona commercials.

If you want to learn about the island and not just the stuff you can read in a pamphlet, take one of these tours! The tour guides are FANTASTIC! We had Josh and he was cheery, informative and made the tour really fun. Even though we started out being picked up at 6AM, the tour was put together so well that you didn't realize it was that early. We were greeted on time and Josh even thanked us for being from Minnesota because that's where SPAM is made. We did the Pearl Harbor/Dole Plantation/Polynesian Cultural Center tour. All along the way, the tour guide has little bits of information that make the trip really interesting. They also are able to direct you with tips on how to get through the stops efficiently and see the most. Its nice to just relax and enjoy the scenery from a small motorcoach instead of worrying about driving around the island yourself.

let me first start by thanking Kevin the tour guide, he was the best.
we took a circle tour( 9:00- 5:30 pm) that included the cultural centre (buffet lunch included ), the temple, dole plantation, mac nut farm, and surf beaches. They picked us up at our hotel, and we had a great time. Kevin the tour guide knew everthing about hawaii and talked the whole time on the tour, pointing out tons of stuff that you would never see or know about if you rented a car and drove yourself. This is the way to go if you want to see oahu. Great going Discouver tours,, and extra thanks to Kevin the tour guide.

We started our day off at the Kona airport on Big Island. We were told to be there at 0500 to check in. No one was available at the ticket counter until 0530. Finally got on the plane and took off 30 min late. Company called our cell phone to see if we were still coming, informed them our flight had just landed. I guess they can't check flight statuses? Once we got going our tour guide Hana was great. Very friendly. First stop was Pearl Harbor, where we believed we would be able to tour the Arizona Memorial, however after arriving we were told they were out of tickets so we were welcome to walk around the museum or buy our own tickets to see the Bow Fin submarine. Our tour guide was able to get half of our group of 24 into the memorial, the rest of us, well we were just out of luck. This was our primary reason for taking this tour. As you can imagine we were very disappointed and extremely upset, as we assumed a package that was advertised to include the Arizona would guarantee us seeing the Arizona. The tour company offered us 20$ (out of our 350$ per person) to make up for us not seeing the Arizona. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT! They blamed the lack of tickets being available on the government sequester and rain that had happened the day before. The rest of the day we spent riding in the bus and having a few minutes at most stops. Enough time to take a picture and move on. The Polynesian Cultural Center was very interesting but not enough time to see much. The lunch that was included was edible but nothing to rave about. We then hurried through the rest of North Shore with a few quick stops at a Macadamia nut farm and the Beduin temple. At almost every stop we had to wait on others who were lagging behind and late returning to the bus. Because of this and initially starting late due to the flight we had to skip over a few stops. At the end we were dropped off in downtown Honolulu and told to wait 30 minutes and another driver would stop to pick us up and drive us to the airport. They suggested we walk a few blocks to view Wakiki beach while we waited. The driver who picked us up was none too friendly and drove like crazy to get us to the airport on time. As I said before our guide Hana was great and very knowledgable, unfortunately this was not enough to make up for the other bad parts of the day. We would not recommend this tour to anyone! If we were to do it all over again we would fly over on our own, get a rental car, do our own Pearl Harbor and make sure we were there on time to get our hands on the few precious Arizona tickets that are available, then we would have driven the Northahore on our own. Once again I would NOT recommend this tour to ANYONE! It was a waste of our 800$ a couple! Definitely could have spent the money on something better!!

Aloha Stephanie,

Thank you for taking the time to review us on Trip Advisor. We use negative comments and experiences to review our tours and improve as needed.

We would like to offer some feedback on your experience, and assure you that when delays and changes occur, it drastically alters our tours and causes interruptions in our daily operations.

Airline flight times and departures are subject to change, and are under the control of the airline. This is stated on our website under our disclaimers section for each tour. We monitor flight times as we can, though delays often occur at the last minute, and such was the case with your flight.

Our website states that we are not able to guarantee boarding of the USS Arizona Memorial for any reason. As you experienced, the United States Government has passed down budget cuts on all Government operated agencies, including Pearl Harbor and the USS Arizona Memorial. They have cut 2 hours out of their program times each day, which unfortunately affected our tour on your tour date. This is very much out of the control of Discover Hawaii Tours.

Visiting Oahu’s North Shore beaches is something that we are thrilled to share daily. We are also able to share the important Polynesian Culture of Hawaii at the Polynesian Cultural Center. The establishment of Polynesian Culture was vital in ancient Hawaii, and is something that visitors love to take in, and that we are proud to share.

Your idea of renting a car and visiting the sites on your own is an option that many travelers pursue, however the general consensus with this option is that the driver of the car misses out on the beautiful sites along the way, all passengers are left without the expert narration from our tour guide, and the risk of missing out on the USS Arizona Memorial actually increases, thanks in part to tickets being limited and the newly imposed reduction of USS Arizona Memorial program times.

Remember, Discover Hawaii Tours does receive preferred ticketing for the USS Arizona Memorial. It just so happens that the United States Government has ruled on these cut backs, and unfortunately our tours have been affected.

We would like to thank you for taking the time to write your review, and will pass on your kind words for Kona. We hope that we are able to share more of Hawaii with you, should you return.

Mahalo,
