Got the fish sandwich with an order of fries.

The fish sandwich was excellent.

The fries were disappointing. The fries were soft, not crispy. The ketchup and mustard condiments went well with the fries.

Got an order of the mango sorbet. The portion was very generous, but the flavor was disappointing. It only had a light mango flavor.

Merriman restaurants are always a good place for drinks and eats. This casual eating spot always has a full house and outside dining spots. An assortment of bartender special drinks can change your usual order routine. Shared starters is our usual routine. Always order the shrimp deviled eggs. Added pot stickers and fish tacos. Dinner choices wild mushroom pizza, fish and chips, and chicken salad. Only reason no five star, the volume of music even sitting outside can be problematic for good conversation. Easy parking in building.

Deviled shrimp eggs were a 10. All items and beer we had were at happy hour prices (before 530)! BBQ chicken was a little spicy even with no peppers. Fries were good, cocoweisen was great. A piece of chicken gristle in the pizza.

You could also say it was noisy, but the scene at this local Honolulu restaurant is vibrant and interesting and fun to watch. Honolulu is one of the most diverse and eclectic cities in the world. And this is not a tourist spot. It is local.

The food is produced locally and the flavoring is interesting. The duck tacos are really special. They have an interesting way of presenting the food and every dish we had was very good and a bit unusual. The fish tacos were juicy and flavorful.

Arrived 8 minutes before reservation. Place was busy but not full. Greeting hostess was rude and condescending. Told us to wait until our reservation and we’d receive a text. Raining and windy outside so we stood off to side of door. 5 minutes later we get a text that they’re looking for us—we’re standing in front of them. Hostess never looked up and just pointed at server to seat us. We’re then seated on the empty lanai at a table wet from rain leaking through canvas overhang, even with inside seating available. We ask to sit at a table completely covered and dry. After that things improved. Servers were young and enthusiastic. Chef’s special that night was seafood curry stew and it was amazing. Pork dumplings arrived cold. Coconut pie was good. Specialty drinks were good. Monkey Pod Mai Tai was very good. After food arrived, heavy rain with wind started again and they offered to move us inside. Extensive wine list and beer. Farm to Table, locally sourced. Appetizer, entree, pie and 4 drinks around $114 before tip. Once was enough.
