There are 3 locations. The original and what I consider the best is at the Nuuanu Ave location. If you have ever been to Thailand, and eaten 'street' food, this is the place for you! Nothing fancy here. Basically a 'hole-in-the-wall' place, but clean. Everything is made to order. I live here in Honolulu and have tried other Thai restaurants from upscale ones to this place. Believe it or not, this place beats them all. You order your food at the counter, give them your name, and they will yell out your name when your order is ready for pick up. This is a people watching type of place and there will always be people in line waiting to order so you know your food will be fresh. The owner's wife used to teach Thai cooking at the community college in town. Plenty of free parking in the rear of the building. You will not be disappointed....I promise!!

We ordered a take-out dinner from this restaurant last night. The food was ready promptly when we drove over. We have eaten Thai food in many restaurants, in Thailand and elsewhere, and this is definitely amongst the very best. The Pad Thai, Eggplant Chicken, Papaya Salad, Chicken Larb, Cashew Nut Chicken, and Veggie Spring Rolls were all freshly made and delicious. And at excellent value. We highly recommend Bangkok Chef. Everything we ate was excellent!

Ok, this place is a LARGE hole in the wall... i believe it is the original Bangkok Chef on Oahu. The food is always tasty...

I have enjoyed all the different curry that they offer... AND PAY 3$ to $4 LESS than the competition. It is ridiculous what other Thai restaurants charge for rice ($1.50 to $2...), this place includes white(jasmine rice) or brown... you pay $0.50 for sticky rice...

I must say though, that this Bangkok Chef simple set up saves $ versus the sit-down, white plate version off of Nimitz Hwy. That space is nice to eat in... But the if you wanna save on the tip then go to the one on Nuuanu...

So add that all up... Good food... no nonsense eating area that is clean... AND you save anywhere between $3-$5 on a good portion of Thai food...

It's not a fancy place by any means, more of a locals place. Must try the #16, a great veggie dish! Walk in and order and they bring it to you when it's ready, good service, but not really a tipping situation. Simple place - great food - good prices.

There are now three locations in Honolulu and I have been to all three. The taste, fresh ingredients and quality are always the same and the pricing is very reasonable. If you do take out, I would say it's a very"cheap eat". I am kind of partial to the original location. You are able to appreciate how this all started, but you must not be thinking fine dining when there. Since eating there, I have learned to love Thai food.
