The first room we had was on the 18th fl, it looks clean and roomy, there were casing for the mattress and box spring, no sign of bed bugs until the second night, it was on the base board (carpet). Notified front desk and was upgraded to a suite on the 23rd fl. Some college kids checked into the room next to our suite on the second night, you can hear all their conversation. They were also smoking in the room the next day afternoon, and we did notify the front desk and they had sent a security up right away. Luckily they were only there for two nights. The location was excellent and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

This was my first trip to Hawaii. I picked the hotel because it was just my mom and I, and I heard Waikiki was a good place to stay if you weren't planning on renting a car. The price was also very decent considering there were plenty of amenities. I wasn't expecting the hotel to be right smack in the middle of Honolulu (more busy than I thought it would be) but it was nice that my mom and I could easily walk to restaurants (not to mention Jimmy Buffets was right in the hotel) and the shopping was overwhelming. The area and hotel were both extremely clean and I had no complaints staying there. If I visit Hawaii again, I would definitely pick a place a bit more secluded and beach-y (waikiki beach is very crowded and small) but our overall stay was very pleasant.

I stayed for one week in January 2011. The hotel is located one block away from the beach. The first thing you will notice is if you have luggage you need to go through the back door. They do not allow people with luggage to go up the escalator, which makes no sense because you can carry luggage up the escalator at the airport.

The rooms are ok. They are small and the showers are not the best. The showers use a handle system which doesn't really stay up and is very cheap. You will not be able to take a relaxing shower needless to say. It is really designed to wash off any sand and get you clean for bed.

They have a very bad policy concerning check outs. Checkout is at noon but they will give you a late check out of one hour. After the hour they charge you extra. Which is the first I have heard from a hotel and really is a practice of a cheaper 3 star hotel. (This isn't the Hilton)

Here is a breakdown:

Pros:
- 15 percent discount to eat at the Jimmy Buffet diner if you show your room key
- It is close to the beach
- The cleaning staff is really nice
- They provide a daily newspaper

Cons:
- No free Wi Fi
- Rooms are small (You get a bed and a shower, that's it)
- The elevators are awful. You have to use your key card to use them but the system is full of bugs. It is a mess. Also in the morning they only really run one elevator.
- They have a timeshare booth at the bottom of the lobby (really a company called Just Dreams AKA Destination Paradise). They are a complete scam and their salesman bother everyone that walks out of the hotel.

I would like to say this hotel was excellant in all ways, the rooms were clean and serviced every day. My room was partial sea views looking onto the main street, when doors are closed you can't hear the traffic, which didn't bother us as by the end of the day we were exhausted.Jimmy Buffets down stairs fantastic meals and cocktails, and across the road you have the cheesecake factory which was great but have to wait a while for a seat

We stayed here for 3 nights and it was really good. The room was clean and well maintained. The view of the ocean was as promised. I would stay here again. We were quite close to the elevators, but I never even noticed the comings and goings of other guests.

This location is probably one of the best places to stay in Waikiki for the price. The Jimmy Buffetts is fantastic with great service. Keone is the best bartender in Waikiki. Rodger was a great front desk person. The rooms were more than sufficient. I would recommend a room on the upper floors and located on the Kalakaua side.

The room was clean and roomy. The location was great. We arrived the day before the big marathon and it was a mad house. We also arrived really early (from cruise ship) and they took care of our luggage until check in time and delivered our luggage to the room. My only complaint is parking was $30 per night which is normal for that area from what I was told.
