“Great stay at HI Waikiki Beachcomber Resort Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 14, 2014

Stayed here overnight enroute to NZ. The hotel in on the main drag in downtown Honolulu, walking distance to multiple shopping and dining places, and more importantly to Waikiki beach! The room was spacious, there was a small fridge and a safe. There gave us 2 free bottles of water. We had a short dip in their pool, and the water was nice and warm. A small inconvenience was that we were confused which level to exit off the elevator the next day, when our car ride picked us up to go back to the airport. We should have asked before we took the elevator- not the hotel's fault. Overall, a pleasant stay in Honolulu - wish we could have stayed longer!

If you are on one of the higher floors, you will have great views of the area- though not for those frightened of heights! Plenty of restaurants nearby, but many of them are busy. Tip for the wise- go to those a block or two back from the beach to avoid the waits

We stayed here over new year 13/14. the location is fantastic but not on the beach / beachview. only short walk across the street to the beach. Great shopping in the area.

If seaview is important don't go here, otherwise this place is great!

Aloha and thank you for the kind response, KjellStavanger! We are glad that you enjoyed your stay here during New Year's--hopefully you had a chance to watch the beautiful fireworks display here in Waikiki. While we are not right on the beach, we do offer some Oceanview rooms with nice views of the sea (and of course, the city too); maybe next time you can book one of these rooms and take advantage! We look forward to seeing you again on your next visit to Oahu! Mahalo, Roy.

Perfect place to stay if you want to be in the mix if all of the attractions, shops and restaurants. The rooms are very clean but a tip, once making a booking ensure that you ask fir a room above the 8th floor, which gives some view of the ocean and also dampens the noise on the street.

Room Tip: The only downside is the restaurant which offers breakfast -jimmy Vuffet, more like a cafeteria and...

Last minute decision to travel to Hawaii over Xmas and NYE left very little accommodation choice. Luckily were able to secure 3 rooms at the Holiday Inn. Having read Trip Advisor reviews I called the Holiday Inn reservation line and requested high floor corner rooms facing Diamond Head and were given just that. Very happy with these rooms(2023 and 1823- queen bed and twin beds respectively. Also 1806 with King bed). Comfy beds, well equipped bathroom, plenty of space for clothes, strong hairdryer, safe, tea and coffee making facilities and fridge. Balcony with sea glimpses (could see NYE fireworks) and not noisy. Good wifi.Problems with hotel were not room (large and clean)s or staff (friendly)but rather dreadful breakfast and unappealing pool area.Great location for shopping and restaurants and really less than 5 minute walk to the beach. Not bad all in all as long as not looking for resort type island holiday.

Room Tip: Higher floors, corner rooms, away from elevators mean less noise. Facing Diamond Head with sea glimp...

$229+ is not reasonable, The software is telling me the review must be 200 letters...... Well, I go to Hawaii about every 2 years and know Honolulu and Waikiki like the back of my hand. Probably been there 10 times at the very least.

Room Tip: There are some hotels that are cheaper and same value. Look for them, I don't want to give away...

I booked 2 rooms via Booking.com and have requested higher floors because of the noise I read from the review but at check-in, I were told by Patrick at the reception that Booking.com never passed any request to the hotel. I may need to clarify with Booking.com later on when I’m doing their review. However, we were given probably the noisiest room 505 which is facing the heavy duty air-conditioning units next door and the room is just next to the lift shafts. The other room was 518 which is also close to the lift so the beeping every time someone arrived on our floor was very annoying.

Anyway, this hotel is in a wonderful spot, Macys down stairs and the Cheesecake Factory right across the road. The beach is a short stroll down a lane way. There are many shops and places to eat. As it is on the main strip, you will have no problem organising pick-ups from your hotel for any tours organised. Expedia agent (Stacey) in lobby was very helpful and we were able to book all of our excursions in one place.
Free Wi-Fi internet was good. The pool is small but the rooms were clean. Breakfast at Jimmy Buffett's was ok.

Overall I would recommend this Hotel but make sure to ask for a higher floor and also requesting being away from the lifts.

Stayed during Christmas in December 2013, travelled with family.

Room Tip: Higher floors have less A/C unit noise and stay away from the lifts!

Aloha and Mahalo for staying with us and taking the time to provide us your review. We are happy that you enjoyed our central location in Waikiki and had an overall good experience with the resort. With the busy Holiday Season the high floors where very popular, we welcome all requests. Please check our website to make sure you book the best room types that are on the higher floors. Again thank you for staying with us – Mahalo Nui Loa!
