Aloha Hospitality

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Sep 22, 2019
Known for Luxurious accommodations and excellent service, The Royal Hawaiian did provide me with a top-of-the-line vacation experience.
Upon my arrival, at the iconic "Pink Palace of the Pacific", I was greeted by flamingo pink jacket bellman, with a warm aloha and fresh flower lei.

Like:
1) Aloha hospitality.
2) Complimentary banana nut bread in the room when I first arrived. (I wish it was every day.)
3) LOCATION. LOCATION. LOCATION. In the heart of busy Waikiki beach.
4) Beautiful historic-wing room.
5) Excellent service.
6) Friendly and helpful concierge staff.
7) Private beach, kinda.
8) Well-maintained small pool, and access the Sheraton Waikiki pool.
7) Flamingo pink everything-hotel, including walls, ceilings, and uniforms. Bellmen were wearing the flamingo pink jackets.

Dislike:
1) Check-in took forever! There was only two persons working at the front desk.
2) Low shower pressure.
3) Air conditioning wasn't the greatest either.
4) Small bathroom.
5) I wasn't granted late check-out request, and it is a $75 charge for checkout between 12 pm-4 pm.
6) The daily hotel resort fee (USD 36.65 per room, per night) includes:
- High-speed internet access in the room otherwise it is $35/day.
- Unlimited local and 1-800 calls and up to 60 minutes of long-distance per day
- Two in-room bottled water.
- Valet-parking for one vehicle.
- 4"x6" color portrait professional photo. Packages start from $35 if you wish to purchase, no obligations whatsoever.

Spent two nights here last summer on a girls' trip to Hawaii and we were BLOWN AWAY by the service, atmosphere and beauty of the Royal Hawaiian. We cannot WAIT to go back.

The valets and the porters were particularly helpful and friendly and have stayed with us as one of the highlights of this hotel. We were also offered a free upgrade to a "partial ocean view" room which had a GORGEOUS view of the ocean from this historic wing (which we LOVED.)

On my last day there, I had a redeye flight out of Honolulu and the hotel was so accommodating, holding my bags, giving beach and pool privilieges after my official checkout and even providing a suite where I could shower and change before my flight. SO appreciated it!

Huge thanks to everyone at the Royal Hawaiian! It was a magical trip and we will definitely be back.

I have always wanted to stay at the "Pink Palace" and recently I had the opportunity. It was wort the wait. The hotel is just amazing, the staff very friendly and the best located hotel in Waikiki Beach. We were upgraded to the Mailani Tower and what a joy that was. I woke up to the sound of waves every morning and the view from the 5th floor was just perfect. I can highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for the perfect stay on Waikiki Beach

We just completed another great stay at the Royal Hawaiian - this property always exceeds expectations.

The staff, the breakfast buffet, the rooms, the lush gardens, the beach! ...each provides a setting of ease and comfort just like any true luxury property should, but no other resort in the area also provides the history and tranquility of the Royal. The protective grounds allow for the ability to really "get away" while only being steps from the fun of Waikiki.

No other property can offer as much, or do it so well.

Lovely blend of old historical Hawaii amid remodeled accommodations. Fantastic good and bat. So relaxing. Great place to unwind. Highly recommend if you live being in the center of Waikiki activity with still a secluded feel

My Husband and I stayed here for a week. We had a wonderful time and the location was perfect for us. We booked it for the location and choose a room without a view in the historic wing. Our room was large and overlooked the beautiful hotel and gardens which made up for the lack of view.

Sadly I think the hotel itself as slipped a bit in its standards. The last time I stayed was 5 years ago and the hotel has changed quite a bit. While, these things did not impact our stay and we had a lovely time, if you are expecting a true luxury experience the hotel itself is lacking. The curtains in our rooms were ripped in places and the furniture was warn and damaged in places. There were a couple of days in our trip where our room was not cleaned until the late afternoon even though we had been out all day. The special touches that the hotel used to have seemed to be gone: like baked muffins left in your room, a check in drink and cool towel and nightly turn down.

We enjoyed the mai tai bar on several occasions and the staff there were wonderful. We found breakfast at the surf lanai to be very small for the price paid but still a lovely experience. We enjoyed the bakery for coffee and breakfast treats too.

The pool is great- we always found a seat and it never seemed crowded in the pool. We didn’t go over to the other pool because we enjoyed the one at the royal. Sharon at the pool is very vigilant at cleaning towels off unoccupied chairs which we appreciated.

The staff are still excellent. And the hotel is still very special, but it is different to what it used to be.
