“Charming historical hotel”
Reviewed June 5, 2013

We stayed here for 2 nights pre-cruise & 1night prior to our return flight.
The reception was all you would expect from a top class hotel. You felt you were truly welcome.
Porters carried your luggage from the shuttle & they arrived at your room without undue delay.
We had a seaview room(no balcony) in the old building. The room was clean & furnished with taste.
Breakfast was a la carte & food was perfectly cooked to our liking.
We were a little surprised that there was a charge for the hotel loungers situated on their beach.
The grounds of the hotel were excellent manicured & it was very pleasant to sit on the terarce in the evening & listen to the birds singing.
The hotel is in easy walking of many shops & restaurants.
This hotel merits its inclusion in the luxury collection, because of its elegance that is so rarely seen in many other hotels.
We would certainly stay there again if in that area.

My wife and I have stayed here twice..........honeymoon and on a recent return trip. Location is great, middle of Waikiki Beach, close to shops, restaurants, etc......Hotel is very clean and upscale. Staff, service, maids are all very amiable and eager to please. I do wish the pool stayed open later, but early closings are common in Hawai'i. Highly recommend an oceanview room.

Room Tip: Try to get a room in the tower if you like a nice view of Waikiki and/or Diamond Head.

Great hotel second time we stayed in The Royal Hawaiian, Waikiki. The hotel staffs are friendly; rooms are service twice daily, beautiful beachfront restaurant. Hotel is significantly quiet in busy part of city. It has a gorgeous land escape. Walking distance to shopping areas, restaurant, Waikiki Zoo and Waikiki Aquarium. We ran from the hotel to Diamond Head very morning. The Wi-Fi is included in your resort fee and they have great connections. (Most hotels in Waikiki have resort fees in addition to hotel fee & taxes) The cons, bathroom was too small but it a historical hotel with limited space. Also there is a $40 daily fee if you ask for chairs and umbrella at the hotel beach site. Overall we love the Royal Hawaiian because anything we requested it was provided to us right away. THANK YOU Royal Hawaiian!

Room Tip: Royal garden view is very quiet.

Whenever I can afford it (look for specials!) I try and stay here versus the Sheraton Waikiki next door. This place is an oasis away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki even though you're right there. Outstanding service and accomodations. I always try and stay in the older section and not the newer tower because I find the rooms much grander and the decor just beautiful!
Have a mai tai at the famous bar and enjoy the small but private swimming pool. You also have access to the Sheraton's larger pools next door but I like the less crowded option.

Room Tip: If you choose the older rooms instead of the newer tower rooms you will not have to wait for elevato...

We just returned from our 4 night stay at the royal. The location is fantastic, beautiful old building. It's expensive and once u get there u still need to pay for any 'extras' such as $50 for beach chairs-which on the website says it includes beach boy services such as drink service and spritzing-that didnt happen? The service at the front desk wasn't amazing-I sometimes felt they were acting a bit snobby. Food at there restaurant was great, difficult to get a booking but service there was mostly good. When we go back to Hawaii we will visit again for breakfast but won't book accommodation. It was also our 10 year anniversary so they gave us a complimentary bottle of champagne that was nice. In all, it was a nice hotel, full of history that was great to see, but expensive and I was disappointed in some aspects of the customer service.

we spent five days and nights at the Royal Hawaiian the second week in February 2013. It was a great experience. The service is what you would expect, especially the food service at the pool.

The breakfast at the hotel was expensive, but the food was good.

The only thing that was disappointing was that we would have liked to have stayed several more days, but the hotel was full.

I would recommend the Royal Hawaiian, great service and super location on the beach.

Room Tip: We had a garden view room and it was quiet.

we went here for our Honeymoon, and it did not disappoint. This hotel is centrally located on Waikiki beach. Easy to get to other locations on the beach. It is next to the Royal Hawaiian Center which is a four story outdoor luxury shopping mall with a food court and coffee bars.

The hotel was always clean with amazing views that are amazing. It's such a beautiful hotel and anyone who has traveled to Oahu knows this is the ultimate, luxury hotel. A must stay for a honeymoon, or anniversary.
