My wife told me its an easy 1 mile walk. No its not! Its a one mile hike! Not easy. Take water with you. Good walking shoes, no flip flops! However view is totally worth it. Panoramic views if Oahu and especially Honolulu!

Being that this is the signature landmark of Oahu you absoulutely have to take a trip here and walk up to the top. The walk up to te top is paved and takes about 20-30 minutes. Once at the top the view is gorgeous.

Bring water and be ready for lots of uphill walking as well as stairs. It was not the hardest hike I have ever been on but I noticed a lot of casual tourist who were not prepared for the rigors of hiking.

Loved the view at the top. It was rainy and cloudy, so watch the weather if you want to do it. Wear very comfortable covered shoes and dress in loose clothing. The climb can be strenuous in spots.

After a short walk, you are treated to great views of the southern coast of Oahu, including downtown Honolulu and Waikiki beach. The top was crowded but not so badly that it was overly difficult to get time at the edge of the viewing area. As with many Oahu attractions, you may have to wait around in your car for someone to leave before you can park.

If you do any hiking regularly, you can probably ignore the various warnings about how strenuous the hike is, as that seems to be geared towards tourists who are expecting nothing more than a stroll through a park. There were many children at the top and even a guy with crutches. The hike is part paved, part smooth exposed rock (not any worse than pavement), and part stairs.
