This is an amazing area, honestly you forget while inside diamond head that you are in Hawaii!!!. My advice is go early, i was at the gate 20mins before opening and the line had already started. Once you get inside park up and start moving. The sun rise is amazing so dont miss it for anyone. It took me will a fast paced walk around 13-14 mins to the top but for most you will need a good 20mins. Before the summitt you have 2 waysto go....steep steps to the right or a decent but crowded path tot he left...go right which takes you into a old bunker...from here the view is amazing and it takes awhile before anyone else knows to look around and find this amazing spot. Enjoy and pack some water for your walk or jogg back tot he car park :)

Incredible to believe, but true! This beach practically in the heart of of Waikiki is not well known by tourists and is very much deserted. It is very beautiful and one of my all time favorites for relaxing and taking in the great views. The snorkeling here is great and if you really want to sun bath top less, no one is going to bother you here( my guests are from Europe).
After taking in the sunset, which is no less than spectacular, you can head off to the city for drinks in just a few minutes by foot ( for examples Michel's at the Colony Surf).

Absolutely spectacular panoramic views once you reach the top. Just watch your head as you climb to the top. After a nice workout climbing Diamond Head, this is your reward. A view, nice breeze, and sometimes a rainbow. Well worth the effort to get up.

One of the most disappointing aspects of this experience is the large quantities of trash littered along the side of the mountain. :( Please people. Take your trash and empty water bottles back down with you. Your water bottles were full when you started the hike. You most certainly can easily walk back down the mountain carrying an empty water bottle.

The climb was a little more than I was prepared for, but the view from the top was awesome. Bring water because it can be hot. Be prepared for crowds. The parking lot was full but we waited about 15 minutes and a spot opened up.

This attraction is advertised as being good for all ages - I completely disagree with that assessment. The hike from the crater dome up to the rim is very grueling, even what I would consider treacherous at times. I would recommend good hiking shoes, but tennis shoes would work, just no sandals, flip flops, etc. In many areas, the trail is very narrow. Most of the time, there is two-way foot traffic, which means that you'll be walking slippery gravel on a steep hill, large, jagged chunks of concrete, and other hazards. You'll want to be in good shape - I really don't think the hike is a good choice for the elderly or very young children. There is a long tunnel, narrow and very dark, extremely steep, that you'll have to hike through, and a small opening to crawl through. That said, the reason I believe it's so worth it is because the view at the top is absolutely spectacular! Bring your camera because you will kick yourself if you don't. There are some wide spots in the trail here and there that you can take advantage of for shooting some nice pictures, but make sure you've got plenty of film or memory for the top. I think Diamond Head had the most beautiful views on the island. Besides good shoes, definitely bring a large water bottle, because there is nothing at the top but a stunning view. Use the restroom before you start your hike! Oh, and keep a hold of your hats! When you get near the top you'll see why. At the bottom again, you'll probably want to take advantage of one of the little mobile carts to get an ice cold drink.
